This's what I call a "sketch-paint", I guess. A drawing where I sketched out the concept digitally then skipped straight to coloring by hand in SAI.

I did this completely as an experiment, but I kinda like how it turned out.

Ice is a surprisingly fickle thing to draw, but it sure is fun XD;

I did most of this in an evening, then for some reason the last 20% took just as long to do. ...For some reason, choosing a suitable background was THE hardest part XD;

Moufubuki is a character that I created a while back in response to drawing an ice demon sometime last year that as I was drawing, a friend of mine (whose character we also drew in our oekaki sessions) thought she looked like she could be the mother of one of his characters. Following the yuki-onna-inspired theme that the "daughter" Yuki was created with, I looked up the Japanese word for "Blizzard" and thought "Moufubuki" sounded like a "cool" name for her.

I never drew her again since then, but surprisingly a friend of mine from that group has drawn her twice since then, and I thought it was high time to "even up" the score a bit, and do an actual "serious" drawing of ol' Mou.
The drive to make this drawing was greatly inspired by talking to Yuki's creator about the extent of her powers over ice (which are actually pretty awesome) and from that conversation, my imagination flowed, and I came up with some pretty cool stuff for Moufubuki.

For starters, Moufubuki is what I've provisionally named "Koorihime", or "Ice Princess", sort of like a demonic nobility cousin to the "Yuki-onna" race, meaning "Snow Woman".

They are masters of ice, but look less human and MUCH more ice-elementaled than their more human-like cousins. It is important to note that they are masters of "ICE", not "COLD". They can change the properties of ice to set their freezing point to any level, effectively allowing ice to maintain itself at room temperature or even past what would normally be boiling. In addition to the ability to manifest ice out of condensing ANY moisture in the air, any ice connected to the body of a koorihime is controlled as if it were a part of her body, effectively allowing much greater flexibility in manifestable forms. She can also control the density, durability and even color of the ice, as well as its level of translucency. Lastly, (though I'm sure I'm forgetting some abilities), koorihime also possess the ability to phase through ice at will as if it were water.
They are, in effect, demons who domain over "solid water", as traditional "water" demons domain over "liquid water".

I'm not set in stone on Moufubuki's exact story, but I have it in my head that Mou isn't an "orthodox" koorihime by any stretch.
For starters, she doesn't even LIKE cold. She enjoys her powers over ice, but you'll find that the FIRST thing she does is change the melting point to something above the normal boiling point of water, and have its temperature match her own body temperature, which matches that of the standard body temperature of a human being.
Beyond that, Mou greatly enjoys warm, thoroughly cooked foods such steak, and even enjoys sunbathing.
On that note, Mou's skin tone is actually more or less what "tan" would look like for her kind, and her race's natural skin color is much closer to a pearly white, but it's speculated that her skin's turned permanently blue.
On that note, perhaps I should've gone with a beach-type background, but after all the work I'd already put into this drawing, I was feeling lazy and really just wanted it to be "done" XD;

Her hair is meant to be somewhat icicle-like in shape/style, but I'm not sure how well that was conveyed.

For aesthetics, I was going for an ice skirt with a bit of stylistic flair where ice follows her steps, to kind of add to that "Queen of the Ice" vibe.

Personality-wise, she's intended to be extraordinarily "warm" for an "Ice Queen", to an extent that to call her "cold" seems like an odd paradox because there isn't an ounce of "cold" in her personality seemingly at all.
She does live up to her namesake "Blizzard" however, through her flurried mastery of ice, and her occasionally wild yet steadfast personality.

For story, I am very tempted to say that she actually IS an "Ice Queen", next in line / current ruler of her people, though something happened and now her people are very few in number (little more than a "tribe") so she isn't bound to any sort of "armchair royalty" type position. (I want her to see some "adventure" )

Also, sorry about this to anyone who I currently owe art, but I just felt this burning need to make "SOMETHING", and my gallery kind of sorely needed it, y'know?
