Description My second round in fire photography. The solo expedition hit about every equipment failure possible, and made it abundantly clear this is not a theme to take lightly. Extremely dangerous and unpredictable. The method involved in the creation of this shot will not be repeated.

Self-Portrait. No photoshop.

*poke* You really should move this into "self-portraits" instead of scraps. Photography->eople&ortraits->Self-Portraits.

Please?

You already know how I feel about this photo.

But what I can't believe is that I didn't see the bird in the flames until just a few minutes ago, when I came back look at it for what you were saying about the lighting.

Do you see it, the curved, opened wings, and the open beak? The one wing almost wrapping around your right shoulder, and the legs just behind and and almost parallel to your left arm?

Still thinking about what I'm seeing for lighting... but now I'm even more blown away by this image all over again.

Granted, I get... imaginative... late at night. But I can't look at this and NOT see it this way now.

Lighting, right... lighting.

Like a Phoenix, rising from the flames. Completely unplanned. Fire, being fire, bringing it's own personality to life.

Yes, a Phoenix. I didn't even have to say it. But it is fitting.

Experimental, and not likely to be repeated. I ended up scrapping virtually all of my prototype fire apparatus. Just not something you take chances with. Again. . . .

Damn! I'm impressed. I'm working on getting the gel, just need to do some more digging.

Erm, you do know where they got the IDEA for that substance, right?

The fire retardant gel they spray onto houses started out as the stuff they put into diapers. Depending on how much you actually need...it's a place to look, no?

"this is not a theme to take lightly. Extremely dangerous and unpredictable."

Sounds like fun. Where do I sign up again?

Digging the self portrait kick too.

Like a kid playing with matches in a pool of gasoline. Literally

Both! Gotta rethink some of the devices. Heh, let's just say I need a few more tests before I strap a pressurized fuel cylinder on my back and start waving around a flaming ejection nozzle. . . .

Flame retardant gel. It's all about the flame retardant gel.

by the way, Wendy and I have consumed a fair amount of alcohol, so excuse any randomness.

But anyways.

We must discuss workshop goodness.

Wendy (and me) say you're awesome.

And we have to talk about the flaming wall of fire.
