It's literally been forever since my last journal and I apologise greatly for it. The truth of the matter is that I haven't been on dA in any real depth in a while since life has gotten in the way. I've been crazy busy with work at the magazine publisher since summer is our main printing season with lots of custom publications on top of our usual monthly ones, etc. Aside from that, life in general has been very busy lately-- which I won't get into detail about everything, but--! I'm still alive, to put it simply, just not overly active here.
On top of the publications I've been working on at work, this coming week, my weekly writing group's first anthology is going to print, so I'm crazy getting everything looked over and approved and starting marketing for it. We have a convention in Albany, NY coming up on June 15th that we'll be at next to my grandpa's booth to sell copies of the anthology, so I'm quite looking forward to that. It's just getting everything finalized and sent to the printers that has me working my butt off right now-- and on top of work in general with making sure all the marketing for our publications is up to date, it's a handful! But, at least I'll have something to show and be proud of in the end! Big plans, big plans...
I'm also in the process of applying for another job (I know, I bounce around a lot). A position at one of the Big Five/Six opened up in my department and I've been waiting for a LONG time for one to open, so I'm sending out my resume and cover letter tomorrow morning and hoping for the best. A little stressed since it would mean packing up and moving again, but this is what I want the most for a job, so...! I've got my heart set on it and I'm hoping for the best.
I've been working hard on my writing lately, too. Editing, rewriting, working on smaller pieces, etc. I've also been sending work out to publishers recently and trying to get some work in some places for the time being, since I aim for at least 1 piece published each year. I have a piece of poetry out right now I'm waiting to hear back from the magazine on, but I have my fingers crossed. I also ended up changing Fiction's WIP title to In Death, which is the title I will be querying it under. It suits the novel so much better (since the WIP title was for before the plot was actually finalized and it's changed so much since then!). I'm getting really excited about this novel to say the least and I'm hoping to get all the editing done by early September so I can start querying maybe mid-October. *fingers crossed*
Speaking of In Death, here's some artwork I recently commissioned related to the book. Give the artists love!
Summer is quickly approaching, too, and I've got a few plans that involve travelling! My 2 year anniversary of moving back to the US from England is coming up in 2 weeks, so I'm a little sad about that and wish I was travelling back to London to visit my old flat, but I have other fun plans. The first is travelling to PA with my aunt in the coming weeks to stay on a wolf preserve for a week, living in Native American styled housing/tents alongside the wolves. Basically, you help care for them and learn about them through the programme there and live away from "civilization" for the week and just among the wolves. I will take so many pictures and definitely be updating about that one! Our other trip is with my family, hopefully getting out to Cape Cod, MA again this year. We didn't get to last year since I was working at the literary agency and my brother was in driver's education all summer so our schedules were too busy. But, this year I'm hoping! I miss the beach!
I have more to update on, but this journal I don't want too long. I need to make a journal in a few days posting the winners of my Romancing Romantics contest from March -shot- My other judges finally got back to me about which pieces they chose. I also need to just get money on my debit card so I can order the PMs for the winners So, be on the look out for that shortly!
I hope everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day weekend and the rest of the spring! I'll try to update personal stuff when I can. Things are just very crazy right now in my life and I'm not around as much as I used to be or would like to be, but things are well. Better than they have been in a very long time I will say. Even my family says I've become a much happier person, which means something! (Now if only I can get this new job... *fingers crossed*)
Overall, though, I'm well! I'll see you all in the future hopefully with more lovely updates, and possibly some new writing or something to share. Until then, take care of yourselves

Sorry this comes at nearly a month late, but it is great to hear to you doing well.
Also, I hope you love the nature here in PA! (I am from and live in PA, and we have breath-taking natural scenery here.)
Mr. Harper, it is also fantastic to hear you are happier! And here's to you securing the job!

"In Death" sounds cooler, I must admit, though I think "Fiction" still fits it better... but that's probably just because I haven't gotten to read all of the book yet.
Speaking of it, I hope you've seen the notes I sent you with the critique on chapter 8 and 9.

Haha it's got nothing to do with "fiction". The story of the novel is about life, death, and denial-- not literature. It doesn't fit it at all!
And I haven't yet. I have about 80 some notes to still get through when I get time and I actually sit down to be on the site longer than 5 minutes. I don't remember what the old Chapter 8 and 9 were but if they were ones kept in the book I'll make edits accordingly. Most of the first chapters (1-10) got a major uphaul and were scrapped or completely rewritten, but some parts stayed for some chapters.

Yeah, I saw that e-mail. I'll see if I can give some good critique on it when I have time and the willpower. But I hope the notes I sent will be helpful.

not really to be honest. I can't write, or play games, or even generally de-stress around my BF.
We share mental problems, so when we fight it goes on for HOURS.
he won't let me do anything i want to telling me 'it's my house' whenever i try.
other then that, i just applied for section 8 housing. with any luck i will be living alone and can concentrate on what really matters to me, ya know? I haven't done more then one piece of art for a month. ugh.
dun mean ta dump on ya. i literally have no one to talk to anymore.

We're not 100% sure yet since we're working on branding the book and getting it into some local shops It will definitely be on Amazon, but where else we don't know yet! We purchased our own ISBN numbers so it helps a bit with distribution, but I'm pretty sure the first Anthology's will be limited. But I'll keep everyone updated!
I'll be posting results soon! I just need a moment when I'm at my computer on dA for longer than like 5 minutes XD

I wish I was as busy as you are. Well... half anyway, work has almost been dead slow here. :/ Although it has given me more time to work on my Wolves, Love and Pincushions story. I think you'll like the spin I put on it this time around. Alternating perspectives between Dominique and his older brother.

And yeah. That was just it's WIP title (as most novels are named after completion anyway!) That and it's not about "fiction" any more as it was-- it's more about life, death, and denial than stories. If it ever gets picked up by a publisher, I'm sure its name will end up changing again since it's quite common to have it happen. I just needed something more fitting for when I query!
