I completed a 30-day Disney challenge on Tumblr and challenged myself by answering the prompts with speedpaints. I've been cleaning up my favorite speedpaints and turning them into finished pieces for display here, but you can click the link above to see what the quickies originally looked like.
This here is the cleaned up version of prompt 7 - favorite sidekick. (I'm not doing these in any particular order) Although he's technically the sidekick to the antagonist, Wiggins from Pocahontas is too awesome to not tribute. Who doesn't love our favorite manservant with a penchant for gruel, gift baskets, and topiary? With his sunny demeanor and insightful remarks on the plight of the crew's situations, thereβs a reason why Wiggins came so highly recommended. Donβt forget the gift baskets!
Need I say about this picture-- I... I..... I made it myself! I based the coloring and composition off of Baroque paintings in order to fit the era in which Pocahontas took place.

Gotta love ol' Wiggins. He was an eternal optimist and that would have been a hard thing to accomplish given his job and the mission they were on lol.Β
I can see he's wearing his little arrow headband that he made himself (and quite proudly too LOL)! I love how he's so happily just washing Percy without a single bother that the trip is going to hell and that his boss is a step away from losing everything! XD
And speaking of Percy! I love how you did him!! He looks just as cranky and spoiled as he is in the movie! He so doesn't need (or want) assistance with his bath time, he'd rather lay back, eat berries and relax by himself haha.Β

WIGGIIINNNNNNSSSSSSS <--what is this? wiggins doesn't have his own plz account? This is an outrage!
LOL for some reason he reminds me of Pip or Butters from South Park and it has to be the whole sunny demeanor and aloof attitude about everything XD But those insightful commens about everything made him unique in that he actually thought for himself and showed some empathy toward the people they were attacking.
LOL! "I... I....... I MADE IT MYSELF!" best line in the whole movie!!!!! LOL!
You can't have wiggins without Percy! Percy was such an awesome character and poor guy never caught a break D:

LOL, I know, right? He's such an underrated character. I've only seen a small handful of pictures of Wiggins here on dA, and the majority of them were drawn about five years ago.

I loved Higgins too! He's not really a villain, but he's kinda like not a hero either. ...anyways, what I'm trying to say here: I like how he's not just this "evil sidekick" to Ratcliff, but rather just this neutral guy in all this. Even though the sequel was crappy, but I was hoping Higgins would of returned, lol.
I totally agree with all your points though; especially the fact about his sunny disposition. I think that's why I like him so much.

LOL yes, exactly. Wiggins was this neutral party that provided some very insightful commentary to Radcliffe's rhetorical questions. If I remember correctly he said something like "Because we invaded their land and dug up their soil in search of gold" when Radcliffe asked why Smith got kidnapped by the natives (haven't seen the movie in a while so I may or may not be incorrect about the context)
I don't remember the sequel except for Poca traveling to England and falling in love with John Rolfe. Didn't Radcliffe reprise his role as the villain?
But-- OH! Take a look at this: wiggins-servant.livejournal.co⦠Aside from the fact that there is an entire LJ community devoted to this guy, apparently in one of the unofficial stories, Wiggins built an inn and named it after his mother. How adorable and in-character is that?! It sounds like such a cute story!

lol, yes, I definitely remember his insightful commentary, and I loved the fact he was aware of the problems with the Native Americans than Ratcliff. XD
I don't know if you have Netflix, but Pocahontas is on there, and that's where I watched it...somewhat recently. I know it's the only Disney movie where I love every single song that's been sung.
The sequel was bad, but yes, Ratcliff did reprise his role.

LOL! Percy never caught a break, did he? Poor guy was forced to bathe, had his doggy treats stolen, got stuck in a tree trunk all night... the list goes on.
BTW if I remember which characters you like, you are totally going to love the next one I'll be uploading. (wow, I sound like an advertisement there. XDDD)
