I'm trying to do a lot more sketching lately, especially for ideas that probably won't be props or costumes in the end. As an artist, there's always great value in flexing that creativity and getting your ideas down on paper. One thing that's really motivated me lately is an art challenge a friend of mine is hosting - #tokutember - a celebration of all things Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, kaiju, etc.
I've submitted three sketches on Instagram prior to this one, all pretty fair ideas, but none fully visualized. Driving to work today, a mashup between Star Trek: TOS and Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue fully visualized in my head. So many of the details of each franchise mesh so well together! So here's Power Rangers: Warpspeed Rescue! I could really run with this one too, to the same extent as my other Power Rangers concept, if not beyond. It can very easily borrow a LOT of content from the old stuff.

Credit where credit is due: The image in the background is one of the stock backgrounds on the latest Mac OS.
