Description A commission piece, the True Master Sword is from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword or the Wii. This is also my favorite version of the Master Sword, so a lot of effort was put into making this as accurate as possible to the available reference material. This particular painted version represents the in-game version. Some features, such as the textured grip weave, were even derived from the book Hyrule Historia, in which Skyward Sword's concept artist notes that the green wrap is a grass-like material. The final product shown here is made out of Smooth Cast 305 resin, with a steel rod running down the length of it for strength.

I know I'm late, but damn. This is unbelievable and ridiculously beautiful. I tried making the Master Sword and I couldn't get anywhere near the crispness of your sculpt, the accuracy of your colors, just... wow. Everything about this is as professional as can be. You're a bloody pro. *bows in deep respect*

I too love the Skyward Sword (and by proxy the Breath of the Wild version) of this sword, and I love that you added the tiny details in Hyrule Historia as well. I looked at your other image uploads and wish I had time to favourite them all, there's no way to show you enough appreciation for how fantastic your work is.

May I ask what did you do to make the metallic look of the blade, it's got a high sheen and registers spectacularly metallic? Your photography set up is great and helped, but it's obviously a great paint job, and I struggled with it immensely on my own version. Although mine too is definitely not LARP-able merely a cosplay item, it's still FAR more fragile than I'd like, and I keep having issues with the finish. Again I want to say fantastic and amazing work, you're an inspiration and I'm very glad I finally saw your work. Soon as I have more energy I plan on going through your entire portfolio! Thank you kindly for everything, best wishes to you always!

Thanks for the kind words! I really enjoy reading in-depth responses like this, I really do. Much appreciated!

The paint work on the blade is really nothing special, to be honest. It was some krylon metallic silver, over which I misted some light blue krylon toward the base. The metallic look, while partially due to the paint itself, is honestly probably due to how the light is reflecting off it into the camera lens.

My deep pleasure to comment, thank you for answering my questions too! Krylon's silver is really great, I have always tried to put either polyurethane or lacquer over it afterwards for more protection and it just goes dull as a frying pan. My biggest gripe with it is that as (if not "sealed" or layered with some protection like poly/lacq/namel) soon as it's touched it gets "printed" at least that's been my experience. I've been experimenting with super-chrome paints like spazstix mirror chrome and ...whatzitcalled... *thinks, is so damn tired* LOL want to say "weyland Yutani" but that's the Alien movies. Sec, looking it up.

Molotow mirror chrome, made as a paint pen for automobile replica hobbyists but has a refill tube that can be dumped into an airbrush and works great if done correctly (it REALLy wants to have a heavy, single coat, wierd behaving stuff but GOSH it's... literally mirror chrome). Alclad's ultimate chrome II clear Kote (sorry that's heh how they spell it) doesn't kill the mirror image as much, and I'm trying to see if putting a lot of that via airbrush first will allow us to poly overtop for greater protection without losing shine.

Again, as originally I praise your lighting and photography of the prop itself, you did a great job making sure we could see all the details from a distance (I also looked at your other close-ups, SORRY I can't fave everything I'm sick, I love your work!) and it's... gosh it's just gosh got so much depth. The photography adds to that of course but the damn sculpt itself my friend, goodness. If you don't mind me picking your brain further, how did you make the symmetry so sharp, and from every direction? I know that "art" is obviously a true and functional answer, patience and hard work, it just... you did a hell of a job on this. When I made mine for my friend I found that I suck at symmetry lol no matter what I do. Print-outs, bonding two parts together before finalizing, bla bla bla, I manage to mess it up lol! So with such a complex (people don't GET how complex this is!) build you did an incredible, amazing job. The sculpt and form is flawless. The additional nerdy details (Hystoria is SOOOOO gorgeous, I highly recommend the art book as well, I grew up in the late eighties coveting game manuals and the artbook has EVERY Zelda game image ever drawn) make it spasmically awesome.

Again, my praise and admiration for every photo you loaded of this, and again my apologies for not being able to comment and fave each one. Thank you for taking the time to explain the blade paint job, I wish I had more talent with spray paint myself but thanks again truly. I'll give that a try on some other builds some day myself. Is it a metallic spray you use to add the colour depth? Or just straight up super-fine-long-distance spray job using a light blue?

*sighs wistfully* Again, you're a pro. Fantastic work, infinitely grateful to have talked with you, thank you kindly. Best wishes to you and all your projects, and thanks for talking me through stuff! Farewell!

It's a replica display piece, not a LARP weapon, so no.
