Description
Get my latest Windows 10 themes: gumroad.com/dpcdpc11The much awaited Leaf Visual Style for Windows 7 is here!
6 SUBTHEMES INCLUDED: top, top-small-fonts, bottom, bottom-small-fonts + an extra variation of the bottom versions: Bottom Flat (normal and small fonts)!!!! Plus the same cool versions have now a new variation with changed window caption buttons!
View in action here: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Fr…
Note: if you like this theme, would you be willing to donate a mere 0.5€ as a symbol of your appreciation for me? If you are interested please click here: www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?…
UPDATE 14:
- NEW VARIATIONS!!! I've got bored of the caption buttons so I made another set of caption buttons which come as a extra versions of the same styles as before. Hope you like them! You can check'em out in a fresh screenshot here: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Le…
UPDATE 13:
- fixed the height of the All Programs section in Start Menu
UPDATE 12:
- another annoying bug that gave me 2 sleepless nights is finally fixed! I'm talking about the exaggerated height of menu and toolbar in Open and Libre Office. Users... enjoy!
UPDATE 11:
- the much awaited fix for the autoscroll mouse cursor in Firefox is here! It was the damn tooltip PNG in Explorer causing all the hassle. Glad I've finally fixed it! Still trying to fix the huge height of the button/toolbar of Open/Libre Office 3.3
UPDATE 10:
- finally fixed the More Options popup menu in Explorer. Thanks to solmiler
UPDATE 9:
- changed the selected item image in explorer and also the text color from white to black. The white text color was the same as in the details of items when searching in windows explorer which was pretty annoying, for someone using windows explorer.
- I've included another version in the package: bottom flat. What's that all about? It's a previous version of the taskbar which I like and kept alive. It's flat like you guessed and does not have that inner dark gradient that the normal version has. This works perfect on flat minimalistic wallpapers!
UPDATE 8:
- finally fixed the buggy display of fonts in microsoft office 2010 tabs. Thanks to jhanford for the suggestion!
Update 7
- Yes, another update... but it's a GOOD update!
- improved the Small Fonts versions: thinner window frames and also thinner scrollbars. Since some people have small resolutions on their display, I though this change would improve their experience and productivity using this theme, since the desktop space is so limited. Enjoy!
Update 6
- fixed the undetermined progress bar... try checking for windows updates and you'll see what I mean! Thanks to iBest for the bug reporting!
Update 5
- made some small modifications to the bottom taskbar version... added a pale dark gradient to give it a little depth. This will be more visible on simple wallpapers.
Update 4
- fixed the bottom taskbar... now it's smooth as silk!
- removed the aero reflections... now the taskbar and the window frames are all cleaned (thanks to troubada for pointing this out).
Update 3
- added SMALL FONTS version for Bottom and Top taskbar placement. The new font used is called Aller but since I don't have the License to distribute it, I can't include it in the package. Fortunately you can download it for free here: www.daltonmaag.com/Aller_Std_F…
Update 2
- added bottom version for the people who use their taskbar on the bottom. It's slightly different from the one on the top but I hope you like it!
Update 1
- fixed the extended start menu (thanks to sergiogarcia for the bug report!)
Package includes:
- 6 Theme versions: Top, Top Small Fonts, Bottom, Bottom Small Fonts + an extra variation of the bottom versions: Bottom Flat! What's that all about? It's a previous version of the taskbar which I like and kept alive. It's flat like you guessed and does not have that inner dark gradient that the normal version has. This works perfect on flat minimalistic wallpapers!
- Plus the same cool versions have now a new variation with changed window caption buttons!
- Fonts need to make it work perfectly, except Aller... read bellow!
- Explorer Navigation Buttons
- Windows Start Button: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Le…
Not in the package:
- Aller Font Family needed for the Small Fonts versions. Available for download here: www.daltonmaag.com/Aller_Std_F…
- gdipp - the tinny app that makes your fonts clear and smooth like those in Linux Distros. It's available in 32 and 64 bit flavors. Download here: code.google.com/p/gdipp/downlo…

hopefully one day I will be able to use Linux as the main OS... I dream about that but with dunno when that's gonna be possible. Until big software companies like Adobe won't make their software compatible 100% with Linux, I don't see that happen very soon!
I know you can run windows software in Linux using WinE but the performance of software run from this emulator doesn't come close to running them natively from within windows.

well, yeah, you're right. But I'm not trying to "convert" you to linux. I just said you should do themes for it

If I can't use the theme which I make then I won't create it. But once I will switch to Linux... and trust me, I want to do that without anyone having to convert me... I will create themes for Linux as well.

the taskbar seems ok... I'm just using small icons and the icons in the taskbar have nothing to do with the theme... I've just pinned my favorite programs to the taskbar and changed their icons using this icon pack: [link] the light version

how can't you figure this out by yourself man, it's beyond me!
the content of those 3 folders are the 3 theme variations!
copy the content of each folder in windows/resources/themes
be sure to patch ur system files first.
then right click on the desktop>personalize and choose the theme variation you like.
how hard can that be!?

The directions are misleading a lot of people; 'the content of Theme folder' are those three folders. It should say the contents of the folder inside the Theme folder.

Hey, i cant get it working, I used the theme patcher, restarted my comp. copied theme map's to the right folder. double clicked, and nothing.
What should i do?

don't double click... if you everything right, the you should have the theme listed in installed themes list (right click on the desktop>personalize)

Hey there, just a report after applying this theme.
It looks great, and the small icon taskbar is *really* small so it gives me more screen estate on my laptop. The number representing the amount of open windows is also a great touch.
The only grip is that font looks ugly on Japanese machines, but I don't expect you to fix an issue with the font.
Thanks!

thanks for downloading... did you installed the recommended fonts? Aller and Ubuntu?
If you did and still have bad fonts, that those font's might not support asian characters or something.
sorry about that!

eddieroolz In reply to dpcdpc11 [2011-05-30 04:19:50 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I did install the two fonts after downloading. Asian characters actually look fine (unlike the Chinese poster below me) but rather, the English characters are the issue.
But like I said, the pros outweigh the cons for your theme. Thanks for releasing this great theme!

I dont understand what do you mean by "issues".
Please attach a screenshot or something.
The Aller font looks way better than the ugly SegoeUi and also I recommend you to use Gdipp. This little app will give you smooth fonts like in osx and linux. Download here: [link]

This is what I mean: [link]
I personally love the look of Segoe UI and can't stand the English font there. Its smoothed out thanks to gdipp however (something I have been using for some time now).

dude are u talking about the text in firefox?? if that;s the case, this has nothing to do with the theme or windows... the damn firefox 4+ enables 2D acceleration and ruins the font rendering engine... here's what you have to do to disable 2D acceleration in FF4:
Type about:config in address bar and press enter.
Click “I’ll be careful,I promise”
Type direct2d in Filter and set gfx.direct2d.disabled value to true (if its value already set to true you don’t need to change anything).
Hope this helps!

I was talking about the font in both Firefox and Windows Explorer, actually.
The Firefox font has been fine until I installed the fonts along with the theme, so I'll try deleting them and see what happens.
I'll eventually figure it out, I hope.

from the screenshot you linked, the font in explorer is looking fine... the one in Firefox is looking horrible... can't tell you exactly why... I'm using the same theme in English and I don't have this problem and no one else complained about it.
Hope you get to the bottom of it!

This is the best theme i ever seen! I like it so much.
1. When I switch to Chinese Simplified PRC in Region and Language (System Locale), the font turns up like this [link] If I switch it back to English, the font is working and fine like the one in your preview. Is there a way to overcome this problem because I need to change my System Locale for some purposes. Or is there a way not to use your customized font and the font is by default in Windows?
2. I hope you can fix (not a problem) this [link] there should be a margin on left on the part highlighted for making it to be perfect.

dpcdpc11 In reply to raveoh [2011-05-26 11:11:29 +0000 UTC]
Wow that looks ugly... sorry about that but it's not my fault... the font used in this theme seems not to support Chinese characters or something... dunno for sure... but it's a font thing and I can do anything about that.
You can change the font used in the theme by editing it using Windows Style Builder... but it will take you a lot of time to change all the fonts used in the theme.
As for the second issue, the theme it's in the final version now so I won't be making any new modification to it. I'll take this into account in the next theme.
Thanks for downloading!

It's a charm and is not a problem after applied Aller font. The margin and other related issues are major problems for most theme designers. I'm very satisfied with your theme.

1. I had solved the font problem by replaced with Aller Font Family as you posted in the description above.
2. I hope you can fix (not a problem) this [link] there should be a margin on left on the part highlighted for making it to be perfect.
3. Found a omission where searching something in the start menu, I can't see the font in white color [link]
4. Not sure if this is a bug or not [link] because it is not in transparency background that I highlighted.
