Description
Get my latest Windows 10 themes: gumroad.com/dpcdpc11The much awaited Leaf Visual Style for Windows 7 is here!
6 SUBTHEMES INCLUDED: top, top-small-fonts, bottom, bottom-small-fonts + an extra variation of the bottom versions: Bottom Flat (normal and small fonts)!!!! Plus the same cool versions have now a new variation with changed window caption buttons!
View in action here: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Fr…
Note: if you like this theme, would you be willing to donate a mere 0.5€ as a symbol of your appreciation for me? If you are interested please click here: www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?…
UPDATE 14:
- NEW VARIATIONS!!! I've got bored of the caption buttons so I made another set of caption buttons which come as a extra versions of the same styles as before. Hope you like them! You can check'em out in a fresh screenshot here: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Le…
UPDATE 13:
- fixed the height of the All Programs section in Start Menu
UPDATE 12:
- another annoying bug that gave me 2 sleepless nights is finally fixed! I'm talking about the exaggerated height of menu and toolbar in Open and Libre Office. Users... enjoy!
UPDATE 11:
- the much awaited fix for the autoscroll mouse cursor in Firefox is here! It was the damn tooltip PNG in Explorer causing all the hassle. Glad I've finally fixed it! Still trying to fix the huge height of the button/toolbar of Open/Libre Office 3.3
UPDATE 10:
- finally fixed the More Options popup menu in Explorer. Thanks to solmiler
UPDATE 9:
- changed the selected item image in explorer and also the text color from white to black. The white text color was the same as in the details of items when searching in windows explorer which was pretty annoying, for someone using windows explorer.
- I've included another version in the package: bottom flat. What's that all about? It's a previous version of the taskbar which I like and kept alive. It's flat like you guessed and does not have that inner dark gradient that the normal version has. This works perfect on flat minimalistic wallpapers!
UPDATE 8:
- finally fixed the buggy display of fonts in microsoft office 2010 tabs. Thanks to jhanford for the suggestion!
Update 7
- Yes, another update... but it's a GOOD update!
- improved the Small Fonts versions: thinner window frames and also thinner scrollbars. Since some people have small resolutions on their display, I though this change would improve their experience and productivity using this theme, since the desktop space is so limited. Enjoy!
Update 6
- fixed the undetermined progress bar... try checking for windows updates and you'll see what I mean! Thanks to iBest for the bug reporting!
Update 5
- made some small modifications to the bottom taskbar version... added a pale dark gradient to give it a little depth. This will be more visible on simple wallpapers.
Update 4
- fixed the bottom taskbar... now it's smooth as silk!
- removed the aero reflections... now the taskbar and the window frames are all cleaned (thanks to troubada for pointing this out).
Update 3
- added SMALL FONTS version for Bottom and Top taskbar placement. The new font used is called Aller but since I don't have the License to distribute it, I can't include it in the package. Fortunately you can download it for free here: www.daltonmaag.com/Aller_Std_F…
Update 2
- added bottom version for the people who use their taskbar on the bottom. It's slightly different from the one on the top but I hope you like it!
Update 1
- fixed the extended start menu (thanks to sergiogarcia for the bug report!)
Package includes:
- 6 Theme versions: Top, Top Small Fonts, Bottom, Bottom Small Fonts + an extra variation of the bottom versions: Bottom Flat! What's that all about? It's a previous version of the taskbar which I like and kept alive. It's flat like you guessed and does not have that inner dark gradient that the normal version has. This works perfect on flat minimalistic wallpapers!
- Plus the same cool versions have now a new variation with changed window caption buttons!
- Fonts need to make it work perfectly, except Aller... read bellow!
- Explorer Navigation Buttons
- Windows Start Button: dpcdpc11.deviantart.com/art/Le…
Not in the package:
- Aller Font Family needed for the Small Fonts versions. Available for download here: www.daltonmaag.com/Aller_Std_F…
- gdipp - the tinny app that makes your fonts clear and smooth like those in Linux Distros. It's available in 32 and 64 bit flavors. Download here: code.google.com/p/gdipp/downlo…
How to:
1. Patch your system files and install the required fonts!
Be sure to patch your system files before you can use 3rd party windows themes. Use this tool to do it: www.windows7download.com/win7-…

Copy the content of each folder inside the Theme folder to: "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\" (Asuming that you're Windows 7 is installed on partition C)
3. Change the start orb?
Use Windows 7 Start Button Changer to change the start orb. You can find the needed tool here: www.door2windows.com/windows-7…
Launch Windows 7 Start Button Changer and choose the BMP from the "Resources/Start Orb - Leaf" folder and you're done!
4. Change the Windows Navigation buttons?
Use Windows 7 Navigation Buttons Customizer to change the Windows Navigation Buttons, resources available in the folder "Resources/Navigation Buttons"
Download the tool here: www.door2windows.com/windows-7…
5. Smooth Fonts like in OSX or Linux?

I found a minor issue with the theme:
The Show desktop "separator" is not visible on the taskbar (although it's working).
PS: Using leaf.bottom.smallfonts variant.

Thats the point my friend, everyone knows its there, so why ruin the design by making it visible. So its not a bug, but a design choise.

I see... that's not really a bug cause there's nothing I can do about it. Windows is design for fonts like SegoeUi which have smaller space between the letters.
Here the font used has a wider kerning so that's why you get that.

thanks... but it's not totally awesome yet since it has a damn major bug: when u copy/paste and want to overwrite a file, the taskdialog box doesn't show up... and I have to manually check each class and property to compare them with the original Aero.msstyle file. This could take days if I'm not lucky!

No, no toolbars, no iconset... Maybe others can also try this and see if they also have this problem. If not, I don't know what it could be, and I had this before and after an OS reinstall, so it's not like there's something wrong with the host system.

Yeah I know, just putting the information out there as to help narrow it down. Maybe you could try installing LibreOffice and see if you have it then, or maybe somehow it's a x64 issue (are you on 32-bit?). Etc...

Under "Styles\MenuStyle\TextStyle\BodyText" it mentions: "BODYFONT = 809, CAPTIONFONT = 801, FONT = 0, GLYPHFONT = 2601, HEADING1FONT = 807, HEADING2FONT = 808, ICONTITLEFONT = 806, MENUFONT = 803, STATUSFONT = 804" What do these numbers mean, and is that what is indicating also what font to use? It's the closest thing to finding anything that stands out at the moment.

been up all night to try and fix this issue... no success yet!
I've discovered that other themes have this problem like: [link] or [link]
Certainly something in these themes and mine bother OpenOffice 3.3 and LibreOffice... but you must know that these apps are not skinned correctly because the smart ass developers didn't use the right GUI elements of Windows. Same as Firefox4... the GUI is a mess... just check browser.css inside the default skin and you'll see what I mean! Sames goes for Pidgin VLC and other software!
Developers should really learn how to use the elements of a software application in Windows!
Will try to figure out a solution maybe tomorrow if I have the time!

Hmm, I see... It does make one wonder why it manifests this issue with some VS's and why it doesn't with others, but I get your point there that not all app makers use the right skinning methods at times. Hopefully it can be fixed, but if not, you would have to be given a medal for valor there as you tried hard

Ouch, bless your heart... But you got it fixed, I just checked everything and it is working properly Nice job and it looks like it really is final now
(I have a question for you: I spent quite a while this morning trying to convert all the fonts to Segoe UI. I used the same methods as I have before, but whatever I try (either win style builder or resourcehacker), I cannot seem to change the font and fontsize of desktop items, navigation pane and generally everything you see when double-clicking 'Computer' (where you see your drives, etc.). Previously I could easily change everything to Segoe, but this time it does not change everything. Did you do anything different or use additional methods to lock in the fonts for your choice? I did notice "TEXTSTYLE" 801 and some references like that and wasn't sure what it was. This is getting too long an explanation but please message me if you know how I can change these things. Thanks...)

dpcdpc11 In reply to troubada [2011-03-31 21:08:00 +0000 UTC]
yeah... I hope now it's final! pfiu... that was a long run!
about ur problem... that's an easy one: use Windows Style Builder and go to: Fonts, Colors & System Metrics > Fonts & System Metrics
There you'll find: ICONTITLEFONT:FONT... changing this will change the desktop icon's font and all the fonts in My Computer (Windows Explorer)... just remember to close and reopen My Computer (Windows Explorer) to see the changes!

troubada In reply to dpcdpc11 [2011-04-01 02:16:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, but here is the thing, I changed the font in that location, and I ended up changing every font I could find in both ResourceHacker and Win Style Builder (I did like 4 or 5 different tries, and combinations of them) but I just cannot change that font... when I look at the msstyle in reshacker there is not even a mention of ubuntu or droid fonts in there anymore, and it still showing... With your previous edits I had no problem (well, till around edit 5 or 6), but the most recent one I cannot seem to change the font for a lot of areas... It has got me stumped because I can't see the reason why.

try downloading my latest update of the VS and change the font like I told you in the last message using Style Builder... you might have broken the VS at some point with ResHacker.
I've just tried it as we speak and works fine...
Here's a screenshot with the font changed: [link]
You can send me the VS ur currently trying to mod and I can give it a try.

Here's a link to the modded one I had been using (based on update 5 or 6 I think). Note how all the fonts have been changed to Segoe UI.
[link]
Well, I downloaded your latest again, changed the ones you showed in the pic, and still it keeps giving the ubuntu font I think... I am trying to mod the Bottom (regular size) one, by the way.
So if you could check and see if it possible to mod the new one that way, because I cannot do it for some reason...

dpcdpc11 In reply to troubada [2011-04-01 11:18:25 +0000 UTC]
Dunno why you keep getting the ubuntu font... you're modded style works fine for me... look at the screenshot: [link]
I've changed the ICONSTITLEFONT in your mod to SegoeUI 14px and as you see it's working perfect. And as I showed you in the previous screenshot, it works perfectly changing the font in the latest updated version of the VS as well.
At this point I can assure you there's nothing wrong with my theme... try killing explorer.exe process and starting it up again or something... don't know what to tell you at this point!

Hehe, yes, THAT one does work fine, that is the I said works for me. But try to get the same with your latest update... it will not work for me. I just sent you that one as an example of what I am trying to achieve, but with your newest version I change the same things (and more) and I cannot get it like it is in the mod I sent you. Sorry if I didn't make that clear...
(When trying to mod your latest update, I killed explorer.exe, restarted, etc., but to no avail. I just started up my PC with your latest update but heavily modded by me to change out every mention of a font I could find in WinStyleBuilder, and it starts up with the ubuntu font again... This is why I'm saying, I'm at a loss... But thank you for looking into it.)

I just did an hour ago... must be that weird dA tree thing again, making it hard to see where is what...
but here's the link again in case you missed it: [link]
The above link is your latest but modded for Segoe UI font. I'd like to know if it does work for you, because it doesn't for me (not all areas get the Segoe font, and when I go deep into all the setting in WinStyleBuilder and change everything I can find, it still won't display like the first link I sent you (of the original mod that does work).)

I got it to work now... I overlooked something, plus I also had my Segoe font size for certain elements set bigger than I had it before, which also threw me off...

Heheh, I had lost track of this post as the VS had been working nicely, but got back over here because of problems I was having with the Office 2010 tabs text, only to find more updates had come out and that issue had been fixed already Thanks.
Now, there is one more bug... Try opening OpenOffice Writer or one of its programs, or LibreOffice programs, and look at the Toolbars at the top... they have huge height when using your VS... where they normally should be perhaps 20-something pixels, now they are 60 or more (not sure how many pixels, but you get the idea). Please check it out. Thanks for keeping working on this, it's one of my favorite VS's
