And now the grand finale to my little Avatar fanart explosion this weekend, which is really just me gearing up for more drawings for a fanfic project I'm working on with a silent partner. Here's the adorable, innocent li'l 'Zula, Princess of the Fire Nation.

...All right, she's a stone cold bitch and a sociopathic sadist in the making. But I love her anyway!

I'm a hopeless Azula fanboy. She's just so awesomely, unappologetically bad. Doesn't pretend she believes she's working for a greater good, doesn't fool herself into thinking she's some noble, tragic villain. She's just bad. And enjoys it. <3

I've attempted her two times before, and I think what hurt them the most was the choice in colors. In any event, I didn't really feel they truly captured the character. And never one to learn my lesson I decided to take another whack at it. This one, I think, finally gets it right. Plus it puts her in that cool black season 3 armor she's started wearing. That outfit really does suit her better than that ugly baggy red and brown number she wore in season 2, boy howdy...

The position of her legs was the hardest part. There's lots of foreshortening going on and it really kicked my butt for a while. I'm thrilled about how well it seems to have turned out. This one ties with my Suki for the best fanart I've done yet, to me.
