Description
And here we go again. (A day late, but better late than never... I'm still going back to fix the other sketch...)This is interesting. Unlike every other piece I've done for dA, this piece was first sketched pencil on paper (explaining why the background is off-white and the image is one of smallest I've done). I then scanned it in, drew the second sketch over it digitally in SketchBook Pro, and then added in color and shadows in a rather rough, sloppy fashion, in contrast to the more solid colors in other pieces. I think it gives it more of a traditional media feel, and I actually kind of like it for its messiness; it reminds me a bit of working in charcoal.
Interesting side-note: my sketches in pencil look almost identical to my digital sketches.
That said, I really, really wish my sketch was better (he's not falling this time, but it doesn't look like he has any bones) and it would have been nice to put some more detail in the hair and tail and such. And the pendant. (And maybe even an original pose?)
Time Spent: 2 hours or so (on paper and in SketchBook Pro)

Aww, yeah! His expression is really something. I don't know why, but those eyes are cool! Who is Sora anyway? I know what Kingdom Hearts II is, but is he a disney character, or just included in the game? Great work anyhow. Still clueless to why you scrap your coloured drawings.

Sora actually is the main (human) character made up for the game, but at one point (for the 'Pride Rock' world) he transforms into a lion and fights alongside Simba and Co. Good stuff.
Really, (and I'm sure you've noticed this) I scrap pretty much everything I post because, in accordance to the dA submission guidelines, I don't classify this as a 'refined' piece of work. But then, that is a subjective qualification, and this is pretty good for me, given my current skill level. So... I'll keep that under consideration for the future. (And that besides, my gallery is pretty empty, isn't it...)
And thanks for noticing the work in the eyes; I find eyes rather hard to render, so I was really stoked about how they came out here.

Well, I know the dA guidelines and all, but I personally think you should post anything you want to showcase in your 'devotions' category. We can't all be as good as disney artist, or pixar animators. So really, noone can really judge what is 'refined' work. I did post a few drawings a couple of months ago, and then later I added background and such. Now I have scrapped the original and put the backgrounded version in the 'devotions' category. I look at it as my art show, and that's pretty much it.
Eyes where really good. I agree, eyes are really hard to do. I have a few 'eye screwups' behind me, and most certianly quite a few in front of me ^^. So very nice work, again.
And yeah, thanks for the update on the KHII story. Is it PS2 only? If it is, I will probably not be able to get it .

Heh, point taken. I'll be somewhat less self-critical.
KHII is (unfortunately) a PS2-exclusive. And really, it's one of the reasons I went out and bought a PS2 in the first place.
