UNDERTALE is an absolutely amazing game. I just finished one of the endings and felt motivated to draw some more fanart. If you are a fan of quirky RPGs like Earthbound, you absolutely owe it to yourself to pick up this game.Here's the main character in the style of MOTHER 4! More fanart of a similar nature may follow.

I considered making a separate deviation after adding Papyrus and Sans, but that would have just cluttered my gallery.
If you are interested in separating the protagonist's sprite from the other two, you can use an image editor like ASEprite. The older versions can be downloaded for free if you aren't interested in buying it.

First, I made a basic low-detail base without any clothes or hair so I could get the animation right. Then, I added in the details of the UNDERTALE hero over the base. ASEprite is a good program for this because it lets you preview your animation while you work on it, and you can work with layers. The older versions can be downloaded for free if you're not sure you wanna buy the program.

Sure. I'll make those two guys my next priority. Only 4-directional movement, though. Most NPCs in MOTHER's style lacked 8-directional movement so I'll be sticking with that to save time.

It's interesting how everyone has a different opinion on whether the fallen child is a boy or a girl.

Weeeeeeeeell you do find tutus, aprons and frying pans as weapons, which paints a rather feminine picture of the MC. And yet...Papyrus teases you at one point for wearing the tutu and you can find masculine equips like the muscle headband? And yet...you can date a skeleton dude. And yet...you can date a lizard girl.
Now that you mention it, I really don't know the gender of the MC! I guess they can be as feminine or masculine as you want. Toby Fox did a really great job of designing the character in that respect.

Canonically, your hero's gender is androgynous, even characters call you "them/they/their" (at very minimal times). It's true role playing ;D
