It's Ninten! The long-lost protagonist from EarthBound Beginnings... at least outside of Japan.Thanks to a lot of advice from the people on MFGG and tVGR, I've finished this spritesheet!
BTW, the EarthBound fangame I mentioned before has become something else. What could it be now?

Actually, I think someone is trying hack Earthbound on the SNES to remake the first game using it's engine, which would literally be what you said lol

It's really not that hard to animate smoothly, it just takes a LOT of time(and references too), which is generally what it comes down to when making animations.

Darn man, this looks quite good! Makes me wonder how a MOTHER platformer would be. There still would be HP, PP and Psy abilities, but there would be much more action.
BTW, I'm taking an animation course this semester at art school, and I'm learning to appreciate even more them animations. You already do an excellent job at animating with momentum and all.

Yeah, it would've been cool to make an Earthbound platformer, but while I was making it, I realized that with as much stuff I'd have to change/add, I'd be better off making an indie game!
Also, that's really cool that you're learning to do animations. There's a lot of great artists, but not enough of them animate!

Yep, let me show you a short, silly gif I did in Flash by combining different excersices during class. It's not elaborate enough to show off in my actual gallery, though, but when I do a decent animation (thing that I will have to do as a final proyect) I will upload it here.

Even though I had help from the people of MFGG when I created this, I can't say I had a direct reference for the actual style.
It kinda came together from trying to modernize the older styles I used to have before this sprite, and a little bit of the clay artwork of Ninten.

Earthbound Beginnings is really dated with a lot of Grinding parts, but it's actually a pretty good game with great music if you can deal with it's problems(if you look up a few guides, anyway

Yeah, i've heard it is quite difficult without some modifications to the game. There's a mod that makes it a bit easier so I may play that one :0
