Task 5 for Session 16

Illustrate one of the themes listed:

Eating habits: favorite food or drink, dining habits

Sleeping habits: the way your OC usually sleeps, their sleeping quarters

Here we go, 6 things about Rysta

1. This is a quirk of all mages in my world, they are held to keep any promises they make by their magic. If a mage promises something, you KNOW they'll do it, or they'll get magic backlash that could incapacitate or even kill them. Because of this, mages tend to be very careful about promises (if not they can get into serious trouble if they promise something impossible ) Rysta is especially good at this, much to Tiernan and Aardrin's frustration. There is a loophole, if you don't say "I swear" or "I promise" it's not an official promise

2. Another one of Rysta's quirks that Aardrin hates is her love of heights She will willingly hunt out high places to relax. Whether it's climbing trees, rocks, or sitting on the edge of high cliffs (as shown) she will do it, especially if she feels the need to think about something. Here she is shown on the top of Iolanthe's cliff side home enjoying the view of the desert.

3. I don't know if this is a quirk or a way of sleeping, but after Shok'Artel destroys her amulet Rysta has violent nightmares in which she spell-casts in her sleep. It usually starts with her thrashing and talking in her sleep, and then the power builds up until things catch on fire. She destroys a couple of sets of clothes, a couple of sleep rolls (seen here) and even nearly burns a cart they're traveling in. Luckily, Aardrin figures out how to keep the nightmares in check, Calaen has to make physical contact with her and the nightmare will cease. This is a bit awkward since Rysta isn't sure how she feels about waking up holding Calaen's hand, and sometimes Calaen isn't close enough to make contact right away which can get dangerous. The nightmares stop being physically dangerous after she and Eriantielle start cooperating, but she still has the nightmares.

4. Rysta is a daredevil when it comes to her magic and horseback riding. She loves riding fast on Aardrin's back like this, barefoot and standing up She really has no fear since she's confident in her magical abilities to keep her safe. However, she is overconfident in one instance, and ends up breaking her nose on a branch and then falling to the ground when Aardrin is running and distracted.

5. One of the ways mages restore their energy from casting spells is to eat. If Rysta has been casting spells she will be ravenous, to the point of simply eating as fast as she can. It is not a pretty sight She is willing to eat pretty much anything, but her favorite food is honey-cakes, which she makes all the time. She's quite the good cook, having been taught by her mother and then forced into doing it regularly to protect herself from Tiernan's awful cooking.

6. When she's not being awakened by nightmares or sleeping outside, Rysta will sleep bundled up in blankets, with many pillows, hugging something (pillow, blanket, or even someone sleeping with her). She likes being surrounded by soft things while she sleeps

Her sense of humor is odd, she will sometimes do what Aardrin does and surprise people just to see their reaction, other times she will simply make a snarky remark about something, but for the most part she isn't the type to do things deliberately to make someone laugh, but she does giggle if she finds something funny.

She obviously studies magic craft and loves to figure out how to get spells to do things that they weren't specifically designed for. She's a magic tinkerer when she gets the opportunity.

Preferred role is leader.
