Second assignment for OC-training Profile: Draw your character in minimal clothing, showing their body type and draw their four basic expressions. Introduce your character:describe their personality in three adjectives.

Siglyn, Mind Healer of the Centaur Herd

Wt: unknown, centaurs don’t have scales that big
Hair/tail: Red

Skin: Tan
Horse body hair: Chestnut with white markings near her hooves

Occupation: Mind healer for the Centaur herd

Centaurs have more flexible ears than humans so they do move a bit when they emote. They can also wiggle their ears, a common thing to do to make the foals giggle.

Siglyn is the oldest child of Agny, Herd Leader of the Centaurs and Thure, Head Healer of the Herd.

This does not mean that Siglyn is in line to become the next Herd Leader. The process of deciding a replacement Herd Leader is determined by the current Herd Leader, and many centaurs (all female) are trained for the possibility of taking over if they show an interest. Siglyn is simply not interested and Agny would never force the point since one of the centaur tenets is ‘Make no plans for offspring. They may pass through you, but they are not you. They will find their own path with their own hooves’.

If the Herd Leader dies before a replacement is decided on, the War Leader and the Herd Leader's Second (usually both males) will determine the best replacement. The Herd Leader is always female, as is proper for any horse herd, since that is what a "lead mare" is for, to guide the herd. Even in the far past when the centaurs were all male they would have a female horse as their "lead mare".

As a “mind-healer” Siglyn can feel other people’s emotions just being in their presence. If she looks into their eyes she can sense the thoughts within. When she has physical contact she can even help adjust their thoughts or learn their language directly out of their head. But she never uses her mind abilities without permission. She can assist with phobias, bad dreams, and traumatic memories and her caring nature makes her the common choice for herd member to ask advice.

She is also an expert with a bow, capable of impressive accuracy. It is a talent she has honed because she doesn’t like things to suffer, so has made a study of the quickest way to kill whatever she’s hunting.

Siglyn is a naturally empathetic individual. She gets her compassion, empathy, and bluntness from her healer father. Her protective nature, ability to negotiate and make decisions, and fighting spirit come from her Herd Leader mother. She is one of the shorter centaurs, but not the shortest. She resembles a thoroughbred in her horse body, much like her father. Her mother and brother both look more like draft horses, including feathering around their hooves. She is considered dainty, but she hates that term and is annoyed if any of her herd mates use it regarding her stature.

Centaurs age much faster than humans, so an eleven year old centaur is considered to be in their prime. Siglyn is 30 years in appearance and in comparative human maturity. They are fully mature at ten. This is due to their horse natures and the fact that female centaurs are pregnant for nearly two years, ensuring that the foal born will be capable of walking and holding their heads up properly. The average lifespan of a centaur is 30-40 years. This aging quickly does effect the "yearlings" as they go through a rapid puberty and they are watched closely at that age (between 7-10) to make sure their hormones don't make them do anything too ridiculous. As the elders would say, "There is nothing more dangerous than a pack of unsupervised yearlings."

Siglyn's centaur herd is a traveling one, having had to abandon their home due to drought. They have been led into the High Kingdom by the guidance of The Gods. They are not naturally nomadic and are searching for a place to settle, but they have adapted to the traveling life as best they can. They don't move very fast, due to the amount of carts, foals, and elderly accompanying them. Siglyn was just a foal when they started traveling, one of last born in their old settlement and she only vaguely remembers what it was like not to be constantly on the move.
