Description A Spec evo interpretation of the famous West Virginia cryptid made during the Paleostream of speculative Cryptid/Folklore creatures by Hyrotrioskjan (Joschua Knüppe) on October 19 and 20, I depicted this as a titanic owl of around 1.7 meters tall that most of its height is due to its huge legs, with a compact body and broad front and long wings that give it a wingspan of 4 to 5 meters. Its plumage of a deep black gives it a perfect camouflage to blend in with the background of the night, although it has prominent red spots between its eyes, this probably to give a look intimidating against other animals. When attacking, they can break the compact and dark shape of their body, lengthening their neck and showing a clear whitish plumage. They are mostly nocturnal, and hides on the deep of the mountains, rocks formations and the forest at day.

Solitaires in nature, they only interact with others of their own species when the females raise their offspring, which are white colored at first. These small beings always called Nightcrawlers, are unable to fly completely during their first moth of life, so they are obligated to live and walk next to the adults in specific nights in search of food, the young can be spotted but due to the dark plumage of the adults, they often got unnoticed and give them the chance to hunt down some unfortunate medium size predator.

Interesting. I once did an interpretation of the Mothman as a giant nightjar:

Pretty interesting, nightjars are just weird enough with their size but one being human sized could be a nigthmare fuel with such large eyes and wide mouth.

I was thinking the same thing too, but in the end I oppted for a terror-bird owl wannabe.
