Have terraformers build enormous "Bucky Domes" in the desert, mine fossil water, or bring in more water by mining comets, etc., that are placed in orbit.
Or better yet, through the control of quantum energies, terraformers could take billions of tons of sand, feed it through fusion/matter-anti-matter furnaces, where the electrons are stripped off the silicon atoms, and the electrons are reattached together, with the nucleus, to form H2O.
You could create, in short order, chains of lakes, and small oceans quickly.  A few billion scientist/colonists would be able to do a lot of experimenting and exploring.
Keep creating!
Jim

I've imagine worlds like this. Where there mostly desert due to their high temperature and I'm assuming there is miniature oceans at the poles of the planet or perhaps it's just very moist up there and the moisture circles the polls. I also imagines that the flora and fauna is very different from each other around the polls due to the vast desert forming a natural barrier

Yeah, but also most of the lifeforms brought by mankind (because this planet is in process of terraforming) has been dispersed equally in both poles and since they have not spent enough time to differentiate, remain as they are, withou many differences.

I used various textures of the earth surface and with a little photoshop I managed that result

aaaaah ok :3
I think I'll try to make some maps again.
do you have good reference pictures of the earth map?

Dragonthunders In reply to Fynn-Bernsteinwolf [2016-01-26 15:21:52 +0000 UTC]

Well, I must say that I usually take pictures through google searches of the areas that I need, especially when I need a specific environment texture. I can recommend that you seek for "satellite maps" and there you will find, depending on what you want to do, the textures.

This is so awesome! However, I think that there are some mountains missing, specifically the ones on the left of the south-western lake, the ones on the right of the south-eastern lake and the mountains to the right of that lake that border and are part of the desert.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's these ones:

Awesome work!

I have also a map that I wanted to make realistic, but since I have zero drawing skills and you're busy, it'll have to wait.
If you'd like to make it, when you're free, send me a note, please.
