Description This is for the latest contest entitled Dance of Life which you can find here [link]

The title Dance of Life made me think about everyone on the planet, all of us seperately playing out our lives, striving to succeed in achieving our goals and aspirations, yearning for our dreams to come true.

Then I looked around me at all the elderly people who, sometimes it seems to me, merely exist as ghosts trying to fit into our modern world and feeling somewhat swept away. I think as young people confident in our environments, we can often forget that the elderly were once young like us, playing out their lives with passion beating through their souls and their dreams shining brightly infront of them. We will all in our unique ways choreograph our own Dance of Life each and every one of us. And then one day we will be just like them: clearing the stage for the next generation to do it all over again.

The cyclic, eternal Dance that never ends.

[The wheel must turn...]Excellently done, I to wonder what will happen to our individual futures, being swept away with technology, society, and all that. Hopefully a little more integrated/active that our current elderly population. But of course as long as life expectancy and quality keeps going up the better for everyone. Assuming WWIII does'nt occure, our near future overall should be bright. [Sustains self on diet of green tea...]

Yeah it's hard to know really.... I do believe though, that our generation is at the peak of luxury and as the worlds resources diminish, prices will go up and quality of life for the majority will gradually get a hell of a lot harder. I mean, a great deal of land originally used for farming is now covered in cement and high rise buildings.... What happens when people start running out of food and start looting Tescos!! When it's all gone no-one is going to have a clue how to sustain themselves because we've lost all the basic skills... I know I'm starting to sound like a survivalist nutcase, but I look at old folk and have a great deal of respect for them. They worked far harder than we ever will and no-one gives a shit about them, poor bastards....

Hopefully I'm totally wrong and we'll find a renewable energy source from cheese or something like that.... Oh no, actually that would be bad because then we probably wouldn't be allowed to eat it any more and I love cheese

Sorry, waffling.. I'll shut up now

I hear that, the generations of past definately had a rough time but there's technology already in place to make stuff so much easier, but we chose to hold onto vintage vehicles, inefficient cubist wooden homes built into floodplains, and all those things that generically classify us as americans. What we need is to switch to ethanol fuel, start covering parking lots with photo-voltaic arrays, start building round homes half way underground in cold climates, build homes above ground on reinforced beams in Louisianna, learn[again] to grow our own food, give the middle east the middle finger, gain some self control when it comes to needless reproduction, and only buy or involve ourselves in things of singular or mutual benefit... [Energy is everywhere.] In the Bermuda Triangle there are massive deposits of methane ice, the same stuff responsible for so many disappearances there. Also the fact that 5th generation nuclear power plants are melt down proof [Uranium encased in graphite balls cooled by Helium gas isotopes.] We should all be taught survival courses as kids, what you can eat in the wild what can be turned into tools, that sorta thing. I guess what I'm saying is that it's time for a global upgrade, despite the many geo-political socialogical obstacles. [Forgive me if I rant...]

Hey, you rant away!! It's totally true, we have to look at our environment and instead of moaning about the inevitable, get on with finding solutions to the problems and implementing them..... Aaaaah it's sounds so simple written in a single sentence like that doesn't it??!!!
The needless reproduction one will always be an issue though, there are far too many bored people out there with nothing else to do but screw, hence the inevitable popularity increase. Like Bill Hicks said, 'go back through your family tree, at every branch... There's fuckin'!!

Forgive me if this sounds weird but I'm not completely awake today. I like the whirlyness of it, the way the dotted lines are like like patterns laid out on the floor for you to follow. I really like the portrait too

No, that seems like a perfectly acceptable comment no matter how awake you are!
