Description
As per usual, DA is always so inspiring and on my hunt for some new stock photos earlier today I came across this amazing photograph [link] by the super fabulousIt immediately inspired me to get my watercolours out and this is the result! Thank you *Mo-01 for your amazing stock. I really, really enjoyed painting this. I've been wanting to try slightly different styles since I got my book done, try something new. I think I want to explore watercolours in a more experimental way than I have done previously, try not to get bogged down with details and just enjoy exploring colour and shape.
Any way, hope you like it. As always, comments and constructive feedback are always appreciated.

This is fantastic! The tones and colors are spot on and this style, like I said before, perfectly combines the abstract with reality. I love that you're bending and combining different styles together to create something entirely your own. The face is perfect, and so is the shading and curves on the right side of her body. The left side of her torso turns from light yellows to green and blue dark colors a bit abruptly. Maybe if it faded? I don't know, but that's the only bit I can see. Otherwise its near perfect!

You're spoiling me with these lovely comments!! I do know what you mean about the harshness of the left. This was the first one I did in this syle, so it was a bit experimental. All in all I happy with it though

I think the fact that you used different colors like the green instead of just black, and the colors within the hair really tie this piece together nicely. The dress gets lost with the color and I like that because it give a hint at atmosphere.

Ahh, nice warm colors, chases these winter blues away! I'm also enjoying the off center composition - it makes it subtly dynamic. I think my biggest critique would be that her arm doesn't look as observed (structurally) as her face and hair.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it's funny how when you've been staring at something for a while you need to stand back and leave it alone to notice things. It wasn't until earlier that I looked at it with 'fresh eyes' and the arm was the one part that I felt needed more work.
It's always good to have something to improve though, makes good challenges for the next piece!
Cheers for commenting

I know what you mean - sometimes I have to let a drawing sit for a while before I can decide if it's worth perusing or not.
Glad you found it useful! - I find DA's critique system really weird and not very helpful for critiques.

Not many people have left me full critiques but then I don't ask for them on many of my paintings. I guess a critique can be just as valuable if it's three sentences long than if it's a whole essay. You can get that from a simple comment really!

This is beautiful. I like how the colors divide the sides of the body, but the focus of the eyes
brings it all together!
