Description My sort of idea of Ilium's voynix. SORT OF. As my imagination of them is fuzzy at best, this sort of falcon-hooded iron hunched tiptoe thing with big iron plates and Asassin's Creed killing blade things... But the DRAWING is okay I guess.

Took a photo because scanning wouldn't have picked up the red in the leather and bleached everything like nobody's business.

My favorite bit, the metal arm plates, came as an afterthough because ~Itzcoatl34 's version aqui [link] was so much more robot than mine it made me sfeel STUPID 'cause I cannae imagine tech very well. SO TOUCHE BRAIN. TOUCHE.

Voynix property a la Dan Simmons and his space opera book Ilium.

I have no idea what this is, but it's epic.

I don't know. The drawing itself is very good, but I've always imagined them to be more alien and sort of hybrid insect-robot cross. Something that looks completely alien, can be taken for a servant or a lifeless husk, but be extremely menacing if it wanted. This just looks like a monster, plain and simple.

First of all, Dan Simmons fan whooo! Having someone who's read the books and can give me critique (besides my boyfriend who got me into the books in the first place) is nice. What I get for drawing obscure fanart I guess. *shrug*

I understand. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling particularly inspired when I drew it and I'm not sure how the voynix look like in my head. Monsters (specifically of the large dragonish or humanoid kind) tend to be my default so it was easy to just draw them that way when I wasn't sure how. Plus I'm not very good at the subtly unnatural and alien. One of those things to work on! Considering I've drawn more insectoid stuff as of late I should probably try drawing one again just to see how it comes out...

that would be creepy to have pulling my sled, also, the arm plates are awesome, you even included the bluish fluid, now just to imagine it walking on four legs

Thanks!

My logic for quadruped-ness is that the plates can "expand" and contract on the "skin", increasing (or decreasing) the length of limbs to help with quadruped movement. So the legs would shrink and stretch to quad-style, and the arms would expand, and the head and body would twist to compensate. The blue lines would expand and contract as well, depending on what the plates did.

T'would be a vaguely crouchy quadruped though.
