Zora kept a sharp eye out for her opposing stable mate. She didn't know Shaleigha very well. They had only met briefly before the official stable split into the four branches: North, East, South, and West. Shaleigha had gone west with her band of colorful horses to the Bahamas. Zora felt a little jealous while she stayed back at West for quite some time. That is until Tristan Ennerstone was hired on as a trainer and rider for the main branch. It didn't need to be said out-loud to be acknowledged. He was a better rider and trainer than she'd ever be. If anything, she was just handy to have around. She wasn't surprised the day she was called into the office by the owner of RidgeRunner Stables, Jennie Peterson. She was asked if she'd move tot he South branch down in Texas. "Because there was a lack of English riding down there". She knew what she really meant and appreciated that Jennie was kind about it. She took the job, nonetheless.
But that didn't make her useless. Jennie also knew she could count on Zora to participate in the "wilder" events that came up. Such as their own personal wacky gymkhana and more recently, the Snowball Event being put on by the Alfkak breed in Greenland. Not only was Jennie interested in branching out to the breed, she'd never miss an opportunity to get more of their stable worldwide.
Zora grinned to herself, thinking, 'Tristan would never do this.' Maybe she had an inkling of resentment from being pushed out of the main branch. But hey, she got a free ride to Greenland with her main mount, Jake. Talk about exposure. And it was the kind of event she could have some fun with!
There!
Zora spotted a crown of very colorful feathers bobbing on the other side of an old farmhouse stone fence. The house was in ruins but the handcrafted fence still stood the test of time! So, Shaleigha thought she could use it as cover? Zora chuckled to herself and sent Jake off on a gallop. And by gallop...it was more like a plane taking off for flight. He started off nice and slow, one stride at a time. But he built up each stride a little faster and stronger, kicking up the snow behind him. He gave a snort and kicked on his engine to full throttle, finally thundering up the hill to the fence.
Zora held a hand out and gathered up a wad of snow from a nearby fir tree, full of snow on its branches. She dropped Jake's reins while she packed the snow in to a large, firm snowball. She didn't have to worry about Jake. He was such a controlled horse. He didn't stray from his line for anything. Good thing there weren't many trees in his way...because he probably would have plowed through them of tried to jump them...
Shaleigha on the other hand, was enjoying the scenery. She was born and raised on the warm island of Hawaii and only spent a brief time in Missouri where she experienced snow. It was a fascinating weather phenomena to her. When she moved out East to the Bahamas, it was just like home to her! She was more than happy to volunteer to come over to Greenland. She had to admit...she did expect more green. So she was a bit unprepared in her garments but she made do.
More importantly, she was just taken away by all of the beautiful scenery. She loved the look of the snowy mountains in the background and how the trees dotted the land. Absolutely stunning! She galloped along a path that led near an old farm house with its stone wall next to it. She admired the handiwork that went into it. Someone had taken a lot of time and effort to build it. So she took the time to admire it. Almost too much time.
Zora cackled and hurled the snowball at Shaleigha, "Gotcha! You can't hide from us!" Just as she hurled the snowball, she took Jake's reins again as they soared over the fence. Jake had no problem navigating the small stone fence at all. Zora grinned maliciously as she watched...what...?
The snowball was spot on and would have pelted Shaleigha! But Shaleigha wasn't there!? She was...on the side of Patch!?
Shaleigha had dropped off the side of Patch, hooking a heel on his belly and counter-balanced herself with the other leg. Shaleigha chuckled to herself and dropped a small metal bucket into the snow to scoop up her vengeance.
Zora smiled nervously upon seeing the bucket. OH NO! Perhaps Shaleigha had come more prepared than she thought! She definitely had more tricks up her sleeve than she was ready for! As soon as Jake landed, she just kept squeezing his sides, urging him to gallop off, "Don't stop now Jake!" She laughed into the cold, crisp air, enjoying the stress-free day of fun!
Shaleigha swung back up onto Patch's back and pursued Zora with her bucket of snow. She laughed along with her, also enjoying someone who wasn't so "serious". Her staff-mate back at East, Michel, wasn't so keen on playing or getting dirty. In fact, Patch was his horse she had "borrowed" from him. She had played with his horse before. He was a nice horse. They both, Patch and Michel, needed to chill out and have some fun every once in a while!

So I thought I'd avoid drawing snow this whole winter...oops xD I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a little fun! I got to dig up some lesser used characters that needed a little bit of light in their life <3 So we have the girls at play here :')
Shaleigha's accessories kill me every time but they are worth it :''D
And I'm so happy to get to play with Zora again! She is my go-to handy character xD As she would put it, she's "normal" compared to the others.
(im so ready for spring...)
