Chris found it incredibly hard not to snort and laugh at Jarin's performance in his class. Yea, he proved something alright. Proved that he was still the same moron as he always had been. He made note of Tristan nearby and couldn’t help himself. It had been far too long since he had been under Tristan’s tutelage back when he had him riding his batshit crazy horses (one chestnut mare, in particular) and gross dressage. “You don’t actually still claim that you taught him anything, right?”
Tristan sighed a little… Jarin always had been a little special but he thought by now he would have grasped the idea of not throwing his hands into the air at a show. “I have, not that he tends to demonstrate it.” He stated, disappointment evident in his voice. “At the very least he didn’t fall, which is an improvement on the past.”
“Riiiight, high standards,” Chris responded sarcastically. “You must be so proud.” His smirk grew more as Jarin began trotting over to them after exiting the ring.
“Chriiiisss! Did you see!?” Jarin called from the other end so super excited!
Chris snorted again, still looking at Tristan for an answer. From the beginning, Chris disassociated from Jarin in a heartbeat. It really had to suck being strapped to that ticking time bomb.
“It’s not fair to apply high standards to Jarin, he tends to do…well…” he gestured briefly to the jump which Jarin had elected to do some strange acrobatics over, straightening his face as Jarin finally paid attention to them. He glanced back briefly to Chris “It wasn’t all that long ago that he first sat on a horse, considering he’s jumping these sizes, he could be a lot worse.” Tristan then purposefully placed a smile onto his face as Jarin rode over.
Jarin came trotting Violet in with a smile from ear to ear, “Did you see? Uh-oh! Uh, hi Tristan! I can explain! I didn’t fall off!”
“Yea, totally.” Chris just encouraged the stupidity to irritate Tristan.
“Chris wanted to see how good I can ride now!” Jarin defended his actions.
Chris nodded, biting back a grin to come off as super serious. “So good.”
“Mm," Tristan added, "Well done on clearing the round, in future, however, you might want to keep your hands on the reins. As the fences go higher, throwing your hands into the air will not go well.” He decided to go for the instructor aspect above anything for now, to hide any responses to Chris, who he side-eyed briefly.
"I dunno, it might make you jump higher," Chris shrugged. "You don't see birds in the sky keeping their wings tucked, do you?"
Jarin stared at Chris, soaking in that analogy. Flying. It made sense. Should he try flapping too? Jarin then looked to Tristan for confirmation. Could this be true? Was this the secret to higher jumps? "Ah!" Jarin cut Tristan off before he even had to say it. "Chris, birds don't have hands," Jarin laughed. Jarin felt pretty proud of that big brain response, sitting a fist on his hip, holding his chin up proud. "Tristan, show Chris how fast you can ride! You don't even have wings!" He snickered, knowing Tristan was super amazing and would wow any crowd~ Chris audibly groaned and wrinkled his nose at how gross Jarin's blatant infatuation was. Absolutely nothing had changed about Jarin from day one.
Tristan gave a slight sigh at Chris’s comment about jumping higher, knowing full well that Jarin might just take him by his word… fortunately, he demonstrated one of his rare moments of insight instead of throwing Tristan under the bus…he gave a smile nonetheless. Stepping up and wrapping an arm around Jarin for a moment before giving a slight nod. “Alright, perhaps I will.” He gave a slight chuckle, giving a brief grin at Chris before heading off to go and get Knight and get him warmed up ready for the ring.

EY, it's yoboi, Tristan! Getting pulled into the realm of cheebs xD It's been SO LONG since I've drawn him in this style xD It's suits those big ol' long legs of his! And Knight is just so satisfying no matter the style -sobs-
Let's hope the curse of Jarin's fat mouth doesn't tank Tristan's performance xD He has a habit of boasting on Tristan and then RNG just obliterates Tristan lmfao (apologies in advance Tristan :''D It was Jarin's fault, not mine!)
