So yeah, decided to look back to the past for this iconic rivalary. The original plan was that I got straight to their status as rivals like with Diana or Monica...BUT I felt it was best to create context since Carol is a woman with many rivalries, and to show what makes this Carol and Rogue's relationship so different from the comics or animated series(which I think Rogue stealing Ms. Marvel's powers in the 90s version is a better take)

So yeah, in this timeline, Rogue did have a change of mind, and would begrudingly helped Jessica Drew to bring Carol to a hospital before Carol would go into a coma, and since Mystique or Destiny weren't there, Jessica Drew decides to be the one comforting Rogue(because I think Jess could do that) leading Rogue to tearfully explained why she did it, and realized she almost killed a innocent woman. Furthermore, this means Carol didn't become binary yet and that she awoken from her coma earlier, and when Jessica explained everything, Carol begrudingly thanked Rogue and Jessica...thus the rivalary of Carol and Rogue was beginning to form

What's more, due to Rogue getting Ms. Marvel's powers, she also gained a sense of respect and atonement faster, which would lead her to join the X-men thanks to Carol's support...but that's another story for another day.

But for now, instead of leaving Rogue alone or to prison, since she was a child soldier here...Carol decide to take manners into her own hands...by rooming with Jessica to keep a eye on Rogue, yes she would quit the Avengers for a while, but it would show that unlike the comics, Carol still has her strength and powers...and when you're living under the same roof with your savior and a former enemy...chances are it will lead to a new status change in Carol's rivalary with Rogue...than just being well the butt end of jokes.
