Allow me to correct that a bit late. x_x
This is Soap (yes, odd name, but his owner didn't really care to invest much time into it for a few reasons), who is of a species, thray, which is considered an animal and not a being, a pet in the very best scenario.
Soap wasn't considered a pet, instead the thray was used as a bait animal. (Think bear baiting , but with a small creature that cries for mercy instead of something that might be able to fight back.)

Poor Soap. It was horrifying and inhumane (not the right word, but pft) enough finding about how he was treated before, but seeing it is near-heartbreaking. How can he act so impossibly adorable in the present day after going through all that? His hurt little expression... I can already hear what Vath would have to say about it.
The drawing itself is great, The blood stands out very well against Soap's white fur (I love the combination of red and white, even if a bit morbid like this) and goes great with the more desaturated background colours. It keeps focus on Soap while not leaving him in a background-less void, and the leash makes you think what else is off-screen here, seeing as that alone brings to mind the thought of him being a sort of pet. Great work with this, even if very saddening in nature. Makes me want to read Soap's story if you ever post anything from it.

Well, I think Soap's upbringing made him naturally wanting to make people happy, not so much to avoid any further harm coming to himself, more because of need for affection after his treatment as a kid. :c
Red and white do look lovely together, despite how that combination tends to come into play, this picture was an oddly clear idea in my head when I set out to draw it. I'm happy with how things turned out. Soap, well... he had far worse things in his past than just being a pet... there is writing with him to come.
