And then Firestar is tragically killed by a stampede of ShadowClan cats, and Dustpelt tells Squirrelpaw to run away and never return. She leaves and meets Stormfur and Feathertail, who she grows up with before Ashfur comes back and the two fall in love. Squirrelflight runs home with all the crew and kills Dustpelt, taking her rightful place as king.
