Description
VIDEO IS AT: [link]The first in my planned series of Youtube video tutorials. It was created to supplement a presentation I was giving for the local library chain. To justify the amount of time I put into producing it, I needed to make it web-compatible as well. I've actually had it posted for a month or two now, but I realize I've neglected to mention the fact on any of my art accounts. That's me - on top of things.
Sooo....
Ta-daa! use the link above to view the movie -if you find it informative, please feel free to share it with others.
Actually, if anyone has any feedback, I'd love to hear it - did you find it funny? Annoying? Informative? Too technical, too simplistic? What types of tutorials would interest you most in the future, what subjects and areas of emphasis do you want to hear about? The goal here is to make my videos as helpful and entertaining as possible - and you're the target audience, so definitely let me know what you'd like to see! 8 )
Also, disclaimer - between working on Prelude and Volume 3, these videos will be few and far between for the time being.

That was wonderful Dave! I'm TOOOOTALLY watching that again when I get my hands on the latest photoshop XD. You have the best sense of humor I love it. Wow! All I did was hold my nose and blink a few times and BAM I had a wonderful background! Maaaagical!

I very much liked the tutorial and I had to laugh at the end with the background. You had me blinking a few times after that.
I'll definitely give it all a shot. I'm still working on my shading and lighting . . .which seem to always get the better of me.

Yeah, the shading stuff is sometimes tough to get the hang of... The best solution I can think of is to practice a lot, look critically at other illustrations and stuff, and play around with the basics a lot in a sketchbook or something. Anyhoo, if my tutorial was able to help at all, then that's good.

I already tried your method of shading and it proved to be . . .relatively simple. However, I only did simple shading. Nothing more then one layer.

That's probably the best way to start, anyways - getting a good handle on basic use is much better than jumping into the confusion of bells and whistles too soon. 8 )

...Come to think of it, if I was ever walking down the street and that window popped open in front of me, I think I'd die from terror.

I have used this a various amount of times and has made my organization about 100000% better when i work on projects.. XD. i would like to say thank you David for posting such an excellent tutorial for us shading and layer challenged 8D
