Description
A "realistic" render of a 1:5 scale Nintendo DS I created in Solidworks to be 3d printed in five pieces, assembled, and painted. The model is designed with consideration for the specific tolerances of 3d printing, being hollow to save on material costs with a 1mm thick shell. All details of the original system are included on the model as well, including screw holes, ports, seams and recesses. In addition, the screens are modeled as separate pieces so both screen images of any game can be printed and applied to them before assembly . The flip screen is also modeled separately and has a specially designed hing that snaps into place while leaving a tiny bit of space between the exposed edges. Special attention also went into representing the text as .2mm extrusions from the surface to afford the ability to paint them with relative ease. Accuracy is within .5mm.

I probably will despite it being a pretty boring looking system lol, but I'm taking a break from the Nintendo consoles for awhile. I just finished a Neo Geco Pocket Color
