A chainsaw hand prop for an Ash Williams (played by Bruce Campbell in "Evil Dead" and "Army of Darkness") costume.The body made from a laundry detergent container, blade from a slab of bass-wood and bicycle chain. Other objects used include wooden dowels, a toilet paper hanger, cookie-cutters, various pieces of a kitchen sink drain stopper, Wawa iced tea caps, brackets, and a lot of nuts and bolts.

One last question, the handle of the detergent bottle, did you cut it off or leave it attached.?

I left it on. My first build, I had the handle on top and cut it off, replacing it with something similar to the "metal" plate on top of this one - it didn't work so well so I decided to leave the handle on for this one, on the bottom. It's more surable when the container is left fully intact. It's not super accurate, I'll admit, but as far as wearing it around and looking good, most people won't see the handle on the bottom. I suppose I could have cut it off and filled the space with something else, but I opted to leave it as is.

It was a cheap 4 dollar container I found at a dollar store. The closest thing I've seen to it that would be available to most people is a detergent that Target sells, called Green Works [link]

Thanx! Btw, I learned this just last week. An egg slicer makes a great colling vent for the starter house/pull cord chamber like in the film. They either have 8 or 10 grooves, and the one in the film has 9, lol. [link] The chainsaw build begins at 6:35. Great job!
