This might seem astupid question, but looking at how Troodontids and Dromeosaurids have always been looked in the media as possible "quasi-hominoid" intelligent groups, have you actually tought about somenthing like a "future sentient species" in your project?

That's a good question! By the Holocene on Alter Earth, there are no organisms on the level of humans in terms of intelligence and there aren't any sentient hominoid forms. However, there are Non-Avian dinosaurs on a par with Corvids of Parrots in terms of intelligence. These are actually not Troodontid relatives at all, but descendants of Microraptorian Dromaeosaurs that have fully adapted to living in the trees. Also unlike Hominoids on Our Earth, they evolved and are most common in Asia with the African forms being more recent immigrants.ย

Thanks for the answerย ย , I was really interested because your project seems really "ecology" based, and the microraptorians as a somewhat intelligent group is a thing I never saw. Really a good job with your projectย ย ย

They are a clade that first appeared during the Early Paleocene in South America. Initially, they were very similar in appearance to Troodon itself, being swift, crepuscular omnivores; this is hardly a surprise given their derivation from Late Cretaceous immigrants from North America. Particularly during the Eocene, Notoraptorians diversify massively, producing a whole host of strange forms. Some became large herbivorous browsers, while others transitioned into an Ornithomimosaur-like role. Overall, Notoraptorians remained largely herbivorous to avoid competition from the indigenous Notosuchians that had already taken the medium-sized predator niche on the continent. This group actually survives to the present and took part in the Great American Interchange, becoming quite successful browsers with a wide distribution.ย
