Description
Auto-generated wallpaper. Better know from the comics, Obelix from "Asterix and Obelix" duo was also in a video game. This is one of the sprites form that game transformed into Legos. The sprite, although small, looks to be getting on the big side for using for Lego work like this. But I like Obelix, so I thought I would share it any way.Related content

As a programmer... not in Legos. That image is generated to look like Legos... it isn't real. I'm glad you liked it.

I was wondering about that, how is it that you do your auto-generated images ?
I am a programmer also, so hit me with all the technical details you want
Thanks a lot.

I started with this tutorial: [link]
I wrote a shell script to do the same thing using NetPBM and ImageMagic tools... so it could be automated to just create wallpaper randomly. The older wallpapers in my Lego folder are an example of this.
But I wasn't happy with many of the results. Most normal images don't look well pixelated. So I changed the script to start with a small pixelated image like a game sprite and then scale it up to full screen to like the tutorial and map to Lego images. The hard part was doing it this way, I needed to figure out how big I needed to scale the Lego stud to generate the desired wallpaper size (scaling factor for the sprite).
If you want I can send you the script. It would be nice some time to rewrite it in Perl or Java to make it more portable. Speed isn't much of an issue as it is pretty quick already.

Thank you! It is funny, as most people here in the US don't even know who Asterix or Obelix are.

Welcome!
Yeah I was wondering about that. It's a shame.
My dad introduced me to them when I was really little. He's fluent in French so he read the originals I think, and then got the English ones later on.
Tintin too?
