Description
Just in case you were wondering what his last name is. And D.R. = Doctor of Robotics of course. :3First mention of Jupiter! Even though he's been on the planet for 985 years, it seems he's still a bit of a mystery.
I think "roblock" is a term coined by Isaac Asimov in his robot series. It means just like what it sounds: some sort of failure in the robot brain.
Yup, I was that kid. That weird shy girl who was reading old sci-fi books when everyone else was reading Harry Potter. ...Bah, who am I kidding. I'm still that girl.

"I was that kid. That weird shy girl who was reading old sci-fi books when everyone else was reading Harry Potter...Bah, who am I kidding. I'm still that girl."
I was that girl too pal! Just like you described it! :') Now give me a hug!
I remember I was too shy when I was younger...I suffered because people used to make criticize me and be mean at me because, exactly because of that, because while everybody was reading Harry Potter, I used to have other tastes. I took refuge on sci-fic stories.
...And making comics of course ^^
And I'm still that girl and proud to be like that! I think you should be proud as well
I've always like how you make the shapes of the faces different from each character. For example in this the face of Otto is more round, and the other is a bit more large. I think that's cool!
When I draw faces they look very similar and that's frustrating
Oh and I almost forgot, I think is cool you named "Tesla" to the company. Not sure if it was with reference to Nick Tesla the scientist, but is always great and I always feel happy when someone does this cos I love him Is one of the few people from the History I got to admire and to feelΒ identified with.

Somehow this comic actually reminds me of the Half Life series for some reason...... it could've been the doughnuts from the previous comic and the background...... but maybe its just me.

and suddenly i am overcome with a sinking feeling.
I am on the border of--god willing--starting a comic of my own. pacing may not be one of my strong suits.
is there something i could read somewhere about this?

DrZime In reply to sleepcircle [2014-07-10 00:29:02 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, not that I've seen. I got to where I am with it by watching really good classic movies and asking myself what made the pacing them so good.
My best advice: make sure each scene has a point to it. Pointless scenes gum up the works like nobody's business.
My next best advice: Just start your comic! You can't learn if you never start. You can spend years saying to yourself that you're not ready yet, and by that time you could've already been on to another comic with twice as much knowledge.

Okay, I'll definitely look into that, thank you.Β
I am actually really close to starting the comic, I have the first four chapters scripted and I am just sending them off to an editor, after which there should be nothing standing between me and beginning to produce pages!Β Though, what would you consider a pointless scene? Or more specifically what would you consider to be the difference between a pointless scene and like, an interesting side-line.

DrZime In reply to sleepcircle [2014-07-10 14:31:18 +0000 UTC]
Interesting side-lines can usually be interwoven into the plot or into any themes that might be relevant to your story. They can build up those things to further engage the reader into your world.
To take a popular movie as an example:Β
In E.T.: The Extraterrestrial there are interesting little side-lines about how Elliot's father divorced his mother and ran off to Mexico with some woman. Obviously he feels abandoned by his father, which ties into the theme of E.T. being separated from his own family. It engages the viewer more into E.T's plight. So, while not exactly necessary to the story, I'd consider that a relevant side-line.
Also for the movie there's a deleted scene where E.T. takes a bath. XD While it's cute it doesn't have any relevance to the story or themes which is why it was deleted.
So there you go! I hope that helps.

Your pacing in your stories is really good too, by the way. I probably should've mentioned that by now.

Throw in a little Clark or Phillip K. Dick and things will get interesting. Just stay away from Ellison. Ellison is too dark of a place to go. Not to mention you might get sued
