Description Otto also said that he was an angry kid. After seeing what he went through at home and not being able to tell anyone, it's easy to see why.

no wonder he got angry.. that seems really unfair from his point of view...
and I remember, though under much lighter circumstances, how it felt when someone was unfair with me... I mean, as a kid, the adults have the final word with you,... and they often don't even let you explain yourself... it's really frustrating...

Most of the time my parents were right when they punished me and my siblings... but sometimes they were dead wrong. :0
I think we've all felt the way Otto feels here, only like you said: under lighter circumstances.

No wonder he's so angry--on top of all this stuff, he never got to eat breakfast! Folks tend to have shorter tempers when they're hungry...

I know this is an alternate universe, but I think around this time period, wasn't child abuse like... not taken care of well? D:

I'm not that familiar with how people in the '50s took care of child abuse, but given all the other stuff they didn't do well back then, it's safe to assume so.

It's too bad he couldn't have the kind of relationship with his teacher where he could talk about his abusive father. Problem is they'd probably put him in foster care, and he wouldn't get to see his mother at all.

It's one heck of a situation to try and get out of!
