Usually I'm not a fan of weird colored speech balloons, but I think it's appropriate for a man whose face I do not plan to show- since I won't be showing his face or mouth, the black color will help differentiate who's talking and also have a *hopefully* lasting impression on the comic.------

I feel so paternally protective of Otto right now, it's not even funny. I've had similar life experiences and I'm seeing Otto as being like my little brother right now. Amazing page. Also, Otto is the cutest little kid ever...

The black speech bubble does leave a lasting impression; I can hear the gruffness of Otto's dad. And now I am hoping this flashback won't last any longer because I really don't want to see Otto get beaten. The antcipation's really uncomfortable.

Gosh, this whole page makes me feel awful. I hate that he has to CRAWL to try to keep out of his dad's vision, and even then it doesn't work. That look on his face in the last panel breaks my heart. (And I can't help thinking of the fact that this is something some actual kids go through daily. This is an actual thing that happens. I hate how horrible people can be.)
