I am writing this letter to tell you how to know for certain that you are going to Heaven. Today, many people are not very familiar with what the Bible says about the requirements for going to Heaven. Most people believe that they must be a good person, or at least that they must do more good things than bad. Almost everyone can think of someone worse than they are, so they believe that God will let them into Heaven when the time comes.

The truth is that the Bible teaches that few people will make it to Heaven. Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." I’m writing this letter to be sure that you are on the right road.

If something terrible happened and you were to die, do you know for certain that you would go to Heaven? Did you know that in the United States that 2,400,000 people die every year? Many people purchase life insurance so that their family will be taken care of if they were to die suddenly, yet few people take the time to find out where they are going when they die. Don’t wait until it is too late to make sure you are ready.

The Bible gives us God’s plan for going to Heaven:

Admit you are a sinner.

If you have ever broken any of the Ten Commandments, you are a sinner. Have you ever let something else come between you and God? Have you ever worshipped an image, object, or living thing as though it was God? Have you ever used God’s name as a curse word? Have you ever failed to keep the Sabbath day holy? Have you ever been disrespectful to your parents? Have you ever committed murder or bitterly hated someone? Have you ever committed adultery or had impure thoughts about another person? Have you ever taken something that was not yours? Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever been jealous of other people’s possessions? If you have every done any of these things, even just once, you are a sinner. The Bible says that we are ALL sinners. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

The punishment you deserve.

The Bible teaches that God will punish sinners with death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". This death is an eternal painful suffering with no relief. God has reserved a place for sinners that is separate from Heaven. That place is called Hell. Few people want to hear about Hell. The Bible says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into Hell, where the fire never goes out." In the Bible, a rich man in Hell cries out, "Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire." There is no relief for those in Hell. I’m not telling you about Hell in order to scare you. I’m telling you this because I care and I don’t want anyone to go there.

God loves you.

God loves you and does not want you to go to Hell. To show His love for you, God came to earth as a man named Jesus Christ in order to warn sinners to repent (or turn away from their sins). Jesus then paid for our sins by dying on the cross. He did this before you ever knew about Him. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

You must believe.

The Bible says that, "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." As you yield your life to Him, God will help you turn from your sins. You cannot overcome sin without His help. The Bible says, "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

The Bible teaches that we cannot be saved through our own efforts, or works. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."

Some people believe that they cannot be saved because they have done too many bad things. Do not listen to this lie. The Bible says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

The Bible compares our salvation experience to becoming a "new creation" or being "born again". "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

Pray

So, how do you go about getting saved? It is very simple. You need to pray to God. Just talk to Him like you would your very best friend, because no one loves you as much as God does. Just pour your heart out to Him and tell Him how sorry you are for the sins you have committed and the pain they have caused Him. Thank Him for sending Jesus to die on the cross in your place and for raising Him from the dead. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, to save your soul, and to become the Lord of your life, so that you can spend eternity in Heaven.

Remember the Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." It really is that simple. This is not a magic spell. The exact words do not matter as much as the attitude of your heart. If you do not truly mean what you say, you will still go to Hell.

Assurance of salvation.

If you prayed a prayer similar to the one described above and you meant it with all your heart, then you can be assured that you are saved and will go to Heaven. No one can take this away from you. For this not to be true, God would have to be a liar. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears My Word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

What’s next?

Once you are saved, you will still not be perfect. The Holy Spirit has come into your heart and will help you to change over time. You will only become completely perfect when you reach Heaven. It is very important for you to spend time each day in prayer and reading your Bible. Take a few minutes each morning to read at least one chapter of the Bible. Start with the New Testament first. God will speak to you through His Word. "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." You probably will not hear an audible voice, but the Holy Spirit will impress things upon your heart. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." You should also attend a church that teaches God’s Word: the Bible.

What about baptism?

Jesus Christ commands new believers to be baptized. This is a public way to formally identify yourself with Christ and to be a witness to others. As you go under the water, you identify with Christ’s death. As you come up out of the water, you identify with His resurrection and the start of your new life, because He has raised you up from the dead. The water represents the blood of Christ washing away your sins. Baptism demonstrates our love for Christ and our willingness to obey everything that He has commanded us to do. Imagine if you married someone and they were not willing to wear your wedding ring. This would bring into question how much they really loved you. Baptism doesn’t make you saved any more than a wedding ring makes you married, but if you aren’t willing to be baptized, then you should seriously question whether or not you have made Jesus the Lord of your life. If you have given your life to Christ, then make it public by obeying Christ and being baptized right away. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

May God bless you and your family

Dude, that was beautifully written, but what compelled you to post it here? I mean its a wonderful message, but I dont see who asked about Salvation. Its not good to press the Word on people, I can see once, but not constant statements. I am also a believer, have been saved and all that jazz, but for all the atheists, we cant be so forceful. I am terribly sad that not everyone will go to heaven, but Jesus carried that burden for us, we dont have to worry about forcing the Word. Most people know about it. They either accept or reject the truth. If they reject it, sadly they do end up in dispair. But we cant just keep forcing people, otherwise, as evident, they get really pissed off.

I personally think SLATHER-SLAB is not a Christian, but is infact a very clever athiest, spamming some random Christian sermon or something, so that people will rise to anger against Christians in general. Being a Christian I do not like this at all. He is right to be banned, and forgotten, nobody likes spammers no matter WHAT the cause... spam is saying "YOU ARENT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO TALK TO INDIVIDUALLY, HERE'S SOME SPAM. CONGRATULATIONS YOU'VE BEEN HIT WITH A SHOTGUN LIKE 500 OTHER PEOPLE. It's rediculous, and any real Christian would leave that kind of activity to others.

The Nine Satanic Statements

from The Satanic Bible, ©1969

by Anton Szandor LaVey

1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!

2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!

5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!

6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!

7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!

8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!

9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!

First I suppose I must mention that you have managed to attract almost as much attention with your comment than the deviation itself. And while that is very much impressive, I must admit that I think it's taking something away from the artist. This is an art community, and this does not seem to be a religious piece, so why preach and praise your system of beliefs here? Not only does it take something away from the artist by proving you have no interest whatsoever in his artwork, but it also borders on the aggressive.. many people who do not share your beliefs may be considerably insulted by what you said.. especially in the context that I mentioned before. Everyone has, and are entitled to, their own thoughts and opinions. I simply feel that is may have been an inappropriate time and place for that speech.

I will keep my own beliefs to myself in attempts to avoid further debate, but I think many people would very much appreciate it if you could keep the comments related to the images you're commenting on. I dont know if you were just spamming, or if you found something about this image offensive (if you did you didnt mention it), but I cant stress enough that this image is not the place for preaching.

I for one am now going to turn my attention to what really deserves it - this stunning piece of artwork. I encourage everyone who's reading this to do the same.

And as a personal message to you :devslater-slab:, it would seem you send this message to many in the form of comment. Do not send it to me.

Yeah, having your own beliefs is cool, but to totally and randomly force them upon other people as a comment on an ART site no less, is a bit off.

Not everybody believes in a god,
and not everybody wants to bow down to an invisible man.

Not saying he DOESN'T exist, but I'm just wondering as to why you felt it utterly necessary to preach.. in a comment box.. on somebody's wickedly cool picture, like your beliefs rule all others.

Alright buddy, here's one thing you've really got to consider before you go on a rant like that: Your audience.

It was well written, I'll give you that much, and certainly heartfelt, but really man, go preach to someone who cares.

For instance, I'm not Christian. I don't believe in Heaven OR Hell. Huh. Fancy that. In fact, to elaborate on my point, I'm pagan, so not ONLY do I not believe in heaven or hell, or sins, or most anything of what you just said, but I have my *gasp* own belief system! So, in short, all that time and effort you just spent.. I don't care.

And maybe you don't care about what I'm saying now. Which is why I'm going to finish this off and make it short and sweet. Places for that would include Christian communities and chatrooms, not deviations that everyone's going to see. You don't se Hindus or pagans or Jews preaching about where they're going after death up here, do you? So, nice thought, but put it somewhere where it belongs next time please.

Dark-Jessica In reply to LoveIsBlind [2004-12-29 02:00:19 +0000 UTC]

Just because you don't care, doesn't necessarily mean that this person he "spammed" doesn't care, or that someone who reads this doesn't care. Only preaching to those who care because they believe it doesn't satisfy the urge to try to benefit others with things you believe as truth. There are some people out there who aren't sure what they believe in. It makes more sense if you do believe in an afterlife involving heaven and hell to preach to people who may not have made a decision one way or another. Then you have a chance at actually changing something. If you don't believe in heaven or hell, I would assume that you believe in no afterlife that you have control of your arrival in. Therefore, I wouldn't expect someone with your belief system, or a similar one, to feel any need to do so. I wasn't meaning to tell you were wrong, just maybe explain more about a point of view I think I understand.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveIsBlind In reply to Dark-Jessica [2004-12-29 05:46:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, again, I guess this just relates back to my own personal beliefs. I don't think it's right to influence the decisions of others for something as important as their mode of worship. I'd much rather somebody arrived at their own conclusion of religion, be it Hinduism, Christianity, Muslim, or anything else, than if I were to force them to believe in what I do. And, also, if you'd like to digress into a discussion of my own religion, yeah, I do believe that we have some form of control over what happens in the afterlife, but it always, ALWAYS comes in the form of choice, as free will is the expression of divinity in all living things. But here I am prattling again. My point here would be that I seriously doubt anyone reading these comments is in search here for religious enlightenment.

I do believe that those who chose to follow a religious path should find that path on their own. I believe that they should chose to follow a path....not be forced down one by someone preaching the "best religion".

That's just my two cents though. And with that said....I will be done here.....I want no part in the holy war goin on here. n___n;;; *skitters away*

Oh no problem. It's nice to see someone who's making valid points instead of taking the "OMG my religion's better than yours!!" stance.

Yes, i think it was very random, but i don't disagree with slather-slab. I don't want to be all preachy and jerky and obstinate, but I do see pagans "preaching". Good example: [link]
Just a thought. Sorry if I came across a jerk, but i have my beliefs, and you have yours, and why shouldn't i be aloud to stand up for what i believe in when you are? I think that if you guys get mad at someone for telling you what they believe, you should keep your mouth shut, so that you're not "guilty" of the same offense! So, let's not all jump on someone for believing something.

There is a difference between creating a pro/anti religious piece of art and turning something into something it's not, filling someone's feedback page with a diatribe about something completely unrelated to the artwork. What's important here is the context, not the content of the comment.

Thats true ^-^ It seems like your more likely to be accepted if you have an alternate religion. Cuz it even states in the Bible that if you believe in God, you WILL be persecuted. No one had a problem with Mr. Satanic's statement, but everyone has to jump on the Christian. Fancy that.

Right, right, absolutely right. You'll run into an unusually high percentage of 'pagans' who are really just angsty teens trying to make their parents mad, who have no regard for art or religion of any kind. They just love to stand up for their 'religion' to anyone who'll listen (or pretend to) and, moreover, they're often dead wrong. And they usually like black. A lot. May I also bring to your attention that the deviation you used as an example is an open denial of the existence of any sort of god, which would be athieism. "Pagan" is just a term for someone who believes in multiple gods. But, I digress. The point I was trying to make was that, yes, everyone gets uppity about what they believe in because it's human nature to think that, since you're right, everyone else is most clearly wrong. I was only trying to say to find a better place to do it in. Not only was this piece of art completely unrelated to going to heaven, but the guy was a spammer. So *deep breath* I guess what I was trying to say THERE was that, yes, fabulous, you're Christian. GO preach to other Christians who would choose to hear it. Thas all ^_^ Not trying to be belligerant.
