You should use an inner glow of black to soften to rough edges. It works for me. n.n

Your right. Of course I should probably just redo this tutorial.

That would be a good idea. It seems a bit old. Renewing it would be good for your newer styles. Just suggesting.

No, I totally agree. The technique I used here is archaic. I've learned like 10 better ways to do it since then. Pen tool anyone?

Oi, pen tool. My worst enemy. I hate that thing. If you drag too far, the entire picture scrolls and you have do do it over again. Just for 1 fricken curve >_👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Dshark In reply to Digitag [2008-04-08 04:27:13 +0000 UTC]
But the curves look so good. I love the pen, especially in Illustrator, where I learned it.

Yeah, in class, I learned it there too. I think I perfect it in Photoshop better though. It's where i'm beginning to do my lineart. It's just kind of hard to make the lines bigger and smaller because you have to stop and change the brush size then start again.

Thats why illustrator is the best place to do it. Outline stroke is very handy.

Yeah, but when you just want to do an outline and do layers with it. For example: Making lineart from a drawing and coloring it, it becomes annoying. Though the lines are alot cleaner, it gets a little iffy with it's vectors sometimes. Get what I mean?

Ehh, depends what you want it to look like, I do my line art in illustrator then I export to PS. The formats are compatible so your line art can be a layer of its own if you need.

The thing with making line art that I have a problem with is changing the widths of the brush to make a fine line or make a old one. They dont completely mix well if you ask me. I havent completely figured out how to do that yet

Dshark In reply to Digitag [2008-04-11 03:40:21 +0000 UTC]
Ok what you do is make your line with just a regular brush. From there go under the edit menu (i think) and go to line> outline stroke. It makes 2 lines and allows you to change the width gradually and manually.

man, tut is good, but why the hell you didn't use PEN TOOL?!?! now it looks like it was made in MS 95 Drawing... using pen tool is not much more difficult than this, and the outcome is always nice and clear, even if you are absolute begginer...
(sorry, jsut foudn these cool emoticons
