Your Stars seem to be brushed if I#m right I'd suggest taking a look at this tutorial Space Background Tutorial
For some inspiration and possibly finding a good Idol I'd suggest ~Tr1umph he's a truly professional space artist here on deviantART.

Yes i created a brush then just painted, although im trying different techniques.
