"Guess who!"

Two tiny paws covered Jinx's eyes, a series of bright giggles erupting behind him. Great, just when I wanted to take a nap. This little brat's gonna be the death of me. He suppressed a growl and gruffly spoke, shoving the smaller draconequus off of him where she was perched on his horns.

"Well, I'll be a princess's brother, it's sweet little Serenity!" he said, not even making the effort to sound glad to see her. The little princess fell into another fit of giggles, making Jinx roll his eyes in annoyance. One more giggle and I swear I'll explode, he thought. Ren managed to climb onto Jinx's back, to which he growled his disapproval- not that she noticed, of course.

"Aw, how'dya know it was me? Oh well, hi Jinxie! Papa told me you're gonna stay with us for the whoooole weekend! We can do so much fun stuff, like go for ice cream, play tag, have a tea party, and blow bubbles and plan a garden party and-" Jinx let his step-sister babble on and on while she jumped on his back, trying to ignore her the best he could without snapping.

It was going to be a long weekend, indeed.

After Starswirl, the second most requested character to be featured in my next few Harmonyverse pieces was m'boy Jinxie, and also, closely followed after, Serenity, so here we have them both!

While Jinx remained a secret for many years from the public, he was not necessarily kept a secret from the royal families for long. Once Discord entered a much more intimate relationship with Celestia, he confessed that he was already a father- to which Tia was surprised at first, but became supportive nonetheless, and encouraged Discord to have a closer relationship with his son. By the time Jinx and Serenity finally met, he had become a moody and distant pre-teen, much to Discord's worry. Weekend visits became a much more often practice for Jinx, which he soon began to dread and even hate. He was still kept hidden, and felt forced to interact with Discord's family when he himself was, he felt, cast away. His relationship with Serenity is one of an annoyed older brother and a hyperactive but adoring little sister, unaware of her brother's ire. Jinx doesn't necessarily hate Ren, but has a strong resentment for how she gets to live her life, feeling that she took everything he could have had- a royal title, a privileged life, but most importantly, freedom to be seen in public and the open love of their father, though he would never admit the last part. Discord worries about this often, only hoping the two can get along if they spent more time together, and hoping to bring his son closer to him- something Jinx doesn't want at all. Celestia is more acutely aware of Jinx's feelings, and tries to reach out to the young draconequus, only to be curtly dismissed by him every time, his politeness only going so far with the princess. Celestia keeps this to herself, however, not wanting to add extra stress on Discord. Jinx tries to stay from the family as much as he can when spending his weekends in Canterlot, but a certain little princess always keeps a look out for him no matter what.

If the pose looks familiar, and I hope it does, you'd be right to guess it's based on the scene in The Lion King where Scar and Simba are interacting! Scar calls himself a"monkey's uncle" in that scene, so I thought it'd be a nice nod to incorporate something like it in the title, hehe. While the malicious intentions aren't there in their relationship, the way Scar is around Simba is very close to how Jinx acts around Serenity. I had so much fun drawing little Ren- she came out so cute, I think! Jinx doesn't look all that young here, though, which I'm kind of bummed about, but I suppose I'll just have to practice some more. I really enjoy working with these two and how their relationship evolves, so, until next time, enjoy, guys!
