First things first, before you guys get confused, this is not a shipping piece! Explanation below.

The relationship between Sombra and Cadance is one of my favorites to explore in Harmonyverse canon. After his reformation, Sombra was sent to the Crystal Empire by Luna to fully reconcile himself with his past. While there, he was subject to Cadance's careful watch, as she was largely opposed to his reformation in the first place and remained unwilling to fully forgive him for his past crimes. Still, Sombra proved himself to be fully repentant for his actions and the hurt he had caused the Empire, and after discovering he had feelings for Luna, Cadance couldn't help but wash away her prejudice against him. They soon became fast friends and confidants and have remained close throughout the years in Harmonyverse canon. Their relationship greatly mirrors a familial one, as Sombra often views the younger Cadance as a sort of niece and Cadance views him as an uncle. Sombra is also often a close adviser to her in Empire related matters and she in turn has devoted herself to help him recover his past before he was King.

While Sombra has learned to center himself and look towards the future instead of his past, he still sometimes lapses back into doubt and regret from his actions and he struggles to keep his head high sometimes. Outside of Luna, Cadance is one of his closest shoulders to lean on during these periods, and she always makes sure to clear his head of his worries and fears. While she may not have had a direct role in his reformation, she was largely the cause of his healing afterwards, so I wanted to illustrate that fact with something tender and sweet.

Did I go absolutely nuts with the sparkles and glitter? Why, yes, yes I did.
Still, you can't blame me, a Crystal Empress is as a Crystal Empress does, hehe.
