Whelp, I was never satisfied with my old design for Briar, so I finally hunkered down and found something I'm finally happy with! It's about time I gave her a proper introduction with information now, too, so have that below!

Briar Melrose is the only daughter of Applejack and Rarity. Given that she's their only child, Briar, affectionately nicknamed Rosie, was brought up with lots of love from both her mothers- she was absolutely spoiled by Rarity, but despite all the attention and doting she received, Rose grew up to be a humble and modest mare. Gentle, excessively kind, and soft-spoken, Briar is a genuine sweetheart through-and-through, and is always thinking about the well-being of others over her own. Her thoughtfulness and caring has made her a crowd favorite, but what has distinguished her above all, at least, among the youth of Ponyville, is her beauty- Briar has just about half of the town trailing behind her and dozens of admirers. Had it not been for others pointing it out to her, Briar would have never suspected anything at all from all the attention she's received, so she bashfully tries to pay all the interest given to her no mind, since she's not looking for romance.

Rosie likes to focus on helping others above all, in any way she can, and she can usually be seen around Ponyville assisting just about anypony who'll ask for her help. Briar is also very dutiful to her duties at Sweet Apple Acres, helping to maintain the orchard and doing other general farm chores, a responsibility which she shares with her cousins, whom she is very close to. Since they are closest in age, she is especially close to her cousin Bluegrass , and thinks of him more as a brother than a cousin overall. Together, they look after the younger Apples, Darcy and Pixie Snaps (soon to be introduced!), and are the heads of the farm when the other adult Apples aren't around. While she has a good relationship with Pixie and her other non-Apple cousins (Sweetie Belle's kids, more info later), Briar struggles a bit with Darcy, whom seems to be very determined to not get too close to her, despite Briar's best efforts. The two are pretty different- while Briar is sweet and demure, Darcy is rowdy and stubborn, so the two don't often see eye to eye on a lot of things, and while Rosie has never gotten too upset with Dar, she has struggled a lot with her younger cousin. Little does Briar know, Darcy's behavior with her cousin stems a little (read: very much) from jealousy, since she sees Briar as this perfect, pretty girl who does everything right and whom everyone loves- the type of girl Darcy wishes deep down she could be. The two have a lot to talk about, and while they rarely get into any serious conflicts, their relationship is mostly characterized by sarcastic quips (and maybe a few pranks here and there) on Darcy's part and a quiet Briar with a growing headache who's too nice for her own good to get too upset with her cousin. Between her parents, Briar has good relationships with both her mothers, though she wishes Rarity would stop fussing over her just a little, and is close with her uncles and aunts.

Aside from her familial relationships, Briar is best friends with Rainbow Dash's son, Sun Flare (soon to be introduced!) and also very good friends with Sassy Saddles' daughter, Duchess (soon to be introduced!). Sunny is just about the only pony she feels comfortable being herself with- being nice and poised can be exhausting sometimes, since Briar has a hard time telling ponies 'no', so Sun Flare helps her relax and listens to her still very polite vents when she needs to talk, and vice versa. The two help each other a lot and are very close friends, which tends to surprise a lot of ponies, since they're both different, but they work well together nonetheless. Briar and Duchess had been friends since childhood, and while they both live in different locations, the two still meet every now and then for tea when Duchess' schedule allows it here and there. While she tends to still be oblivious most of the time to the affections and attentions of her many suitors, there is one pony she knows for a fact has a huge crush on her: Marshal Trim . Given his persistence, Briar struggles with him a lot- she's, of course, flattered he'd go to many (often embarrassing) lengths to win her favor, but his attention is mostly unwanted since she's not much interested in romance at the moment. Still, there is a tiny part of her that finds Marshal endearing, and while she is always very polite with her rejections, Marshal's efforts still do make her smile just a bit afterwards.

Phew, finally got that out to you guys, heh. Briar is overall just a super nice and sweet pony- a little innocent, but still very much capable of taking care of herself, despite what others may think of her. I'm still struggling a bit to find out what her special talent is and what she wants to do, but I'm sure I'll figure it out in time (and hopefully figure out a cutie mark after, too). It's been a while since I posted some character art! It feels good- once I'm officially done with commissions, I'll be happy to get this train back on track. Enjoy, guys!
