Description
[UPDATED VERSION HERE ]This tutorial is a little better than the previous [link] .
It will teach you how to use textures and materials, and the basis of modeling.
I think it's a very simple one, for beginners, and the result is quiet nice. (hey, ain't my snowman nice ?
(Sorry, it doesn't use the "extrude" fonctionnality(E-key)... well, i'll use it in another tutorial)
---EDIT---
-----
If you have any questions/problems with this tut, or any improvement suggestion, feel free to leave a comment here, and i'll try to help

After I finish this tutorial, I'll see about giving and advanced critique, as I only got blender last night...
Just wanted to say thanks for writing it in English, as my french isn't that great.

No problem, if I had written it only in french, it would have been helpful to only a very few people
You could find a slightly updated version here if you want : [link]

neither with the B key...
and if I add some lights or smth like that I can select only that light and not the object or whatever I was making..

Hm, maybe it's because when you just add an object, it automaticaly go in "Edit Mode", and in edit mode you can only choose that last object. And if you press the "tab" key to go back to the Object mode it should work.
Or at least, that's all I can think of, because if you already were on object mode... uh... then I don't know what to do and why it doesn't work

it's a good tutorial..
but for some reason I don't know why when I add an object I can't select the previous one.. T_T

Hmmm, *trying to imagine what could have be wrong*
Did you make sure you had 2 objects selected (both in pink) ? If yes, maybe it happens because for some reason none of the objects is "active" (displayed in a lighter pink that the other). So just right-click on one of the object you want to join to make it active, and try the "ctrl+j" once again.
I hope it helped.

And there's going to be a blender image in my gallery in a couple of weeks, but I want to do something *really* good, so I take my time

You can find some good tut a elYsiun : [link] and also on the blender website [link] (though these tuts were made w/ the old blender versions).
I don't know other sites in english ( because I prefer tutorials in french ) but I suppose you can find much more

Hehe *caracal was only asknig me when the french version of this tutorial would be available (and now it is, but I'm not sure this is very interesting for you
)and then which version of Blender he was supposed to choose, because he got problems with the v2.28.... and didn't know what to choose between the v2.25 and v2.32.
I hope you'll like the tut, and if there's anything that you didn't understand or that you think I could improve, please tell me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
duskblue In reply to caracal [2004-03-13 20:06:06 +0000 UTC]
