Description
Maybe not so much a tutorial, but a walk-through of how I made my prop weapons for Talim from the Soul Calibur series. All of the materials in the tutorial can be collected from Home Depot or a local hardware store and Michales or any other craft store.
Hope you find it useful.

Well I use almost anything available. Normally I will use razor blades, but I also use my dremel, sandpaper and a hot wire cutter. Maybe you could try the hot wire cutter and sand paper if you are worried about it.

It works but you should be careful. I have noticed that after a few months the foam begins to aerate and bubbles begin to form under the glue. I have since switched to using polyurethane resin to seal my insulation foam props!

well i only used it once and didn't reinforce the spike properly, but that wasn't the glue's fault. i'm actually trying something new - Hard modge podge
