Metal doesn't always have the grimy, or have conventionally metallic appearance;with different alloys and nigh metallic polymer blends, I do believe the exicution was highly appropriate and believable, especially indicative of the possible post-modernistic
context: a more conventional metallic approach would only make the work more ostensibly rendered, proving more detrimental towards its convince-ability

Many composite metals etc. are not shiny and actually look more akin to dull non-reflective plastic. Stealth helicopters/planes use materials like that.
