the newer versions of photoshop doesnt have imageready! You can get an animation bar in photoshop by pressing "window" in the top bar and then "animation"

This is an emoticon I made with help from your tutorial, can you tell me what you think? Its not animated, I'm not sure how to animate using GIMP.

you can but it will not be animated of transparent in the background, perhaps you should go download GIMP, it's free and does the same as photoshop [link] for tutorials just search for "gimp emoticon tutorial" in deviantart.
