Description
[please download to view full size]This is my first "mega-panorama" made from 37 individual shots. It was a rather misty morning, but I managed to get quite clear shot.
This is a back road connecting the towns of Lightstreet and Buckhorn Pennsylvania. I like the way the shot came out. This is actually a curving 90 degree turn in the road exaggerated by the panorama. [link]
[edit 2009-09-28] This won 1st place in the Landscape division -and- Best in Category at the 2009 Bloomsburg Fair.
[edit 2011-01-01] I was asked to put together a tutorial on panoramic shots. Here is a link to it. [Tutorial ]

Thanks for the feature.
No approval needed. I'm sure someone want's to put some of my work on a "I can't believe this crap" feature...more power to them.

The stitching software took about 10 minutes, but it did a great job. I searched for seams and found only minor blurring at 3 or 4 spots. There was no wind, so the trees didn't have much movement in them.

There's actually a spot where people illegally dump garbage just behind where I parked to take this shot
It's all about your point of view

Great image! My wife's family is from PA (near Carlisle), and she has a cousin in Wilkes-Barre. I skied in the Poconos and ice climbed at Rickett's Glen, the Delaware Water Gap and down the Delaware valley when I was living near Princeton, NJ in the early 90s.

Thanks. We have a wide variety of topography here in PA. Very old rocks make for a very interesting landscape. Rickett's Glen is relatively close to me. I try to get there at least once a year.

I know PA well, from the run up I79 to Lake Erie, to the road following the Delaware up from Phillie, and across I80 and the Turnpike. It's a great state for a photographer, because you never have to go far for something completely different, from impossibly quaint Amish farms in Lancaster County to the post-industrial ruin of Allentown, to the snow and hills of the Poconos to the Ohio River down by the WV panhandle. Ghettos in Phillie, and State College preppies.
If my in-laws weren't there I'd visit more often.

My instincts paid off. I was driving along the road one day and thought, I should shoot a panorama looking down each direction from the hair-pin turn. The awesome fall colors don't hurt Thanks
