Description
--THIS MAP WAS MADE LONG BEFORE ME3 SO PLEASE DONT LEAVE ME COMMENTS ABOUT HOW WRONG IT IS--THIS MAP IS OUT OF DATE. CHECK MY MASS EFFECT GALAXY MAP 2.0 FOR MOST RECENT ADDITIONS
I was really curious as to the relation of the ME1 and ME2 maps, but couldnt for the life of me find one online, so I made my own!
Mass Effect is not mine, never has been mine, never claim it to be.
Thank Bioware, EA and Blasto the Jellyfish.
Information on the map based on codex entries, planet info, in-game dialogue, and missions.
Lines represent the Relay network
Note: Attican Traverse is Citadel claimed space, however its very loosely controlled by the Council, which is why it has a different color.
PS: If anyone knows where I can get real in-game insignias for the Citadel, Alliance, Terminus, the different merc groups, the Geth, any of that, let me know. Id prefer to use real game graphics instead of my own.
UPDATE (dec 20 2010): For all of you wanting an update, I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I have the time to actually update. Bad news is that somehow I misplaced the psd file for this so Ill have to edit from scratch. C'est la vie.

Yeah. I made these maps because there was no official canon galaxy map. Made it sort of annoying to try and figure out where things were. Thankfully with ME3 they have made it a bit better, but there are still some strange inconsistencies in game...

I was just thinking to say that the mass relays are supposed to lead to the citadel to 'guide' the race's along the path the reapers wanted them to take... why does everything seem to converge on omega -.^

hum...a thougth i also had, but the citadel is the best kind of space station that could be created...whereas terminus systems are poor, without anything interesting...
So, the citadel can be moved and put in the best place, with the most interesting species. I mean...how move a relay ?...with a super relay ? O_O
Na, i think the "path" is the fact a relay just serve two or three solar systems, whereas the galaxy counts billions of stars.

true and there are many inactive relays and as the terminus systems aren't influenced by the council there are likely more active ones there

IGN spoilers
The galaxy map in ME 3 revolves around getting 'war assets' to help you in ur fight against the Reapers and u basically run around looking for objects to help you. If u stay in a system too long then the Reapers come after u and u have to get to the mass relay as fast as u can to escvape them. Also from what i have seen the Reapers are mostly in the Terminus System and Local System

Very nice, but...one thing: You've got "Serpent Nebula" spelled wrong as "Serpant." I'm surprised no one's pointed it out yet. Otherwise, good work.

I've been curious of how the maps are made in other series. I added this to my fave and trying to make a map of my original universe with an updated map of the galaxy.

I have an updated map up as well.
The problem with ME is that, due to the matter in which they achieve interstellar flight, you have systems all mixed into each other, so making maps like from Star Wars or Star Trek is sorta hard.
I hope that after ME3 they will actually give us a map that shows more detail, but until then, we will never know.

Are you certain that the Crescent Nebula is part of Citadel Controlled Space? I thought the asari you speak to when you first dock at Nos Astra said it wasn't technically an asari world?
Other than that minor concern, great work!

I took that to mean that it only wasnt an Asari world, not that it wasnt a Council world. But I dont think its ever made perfectly clear.
I did an update of this map that ditches the color coding since its just too much guess work.

It does make sense, most of Terminus is absent in the ME1 galaxy map while most of the Citadel Space is absent in the ME2 galaxy map.

Good job, you should try and get this on the Mass Effect wikia because although they explain what the traverse and the terminus systems are, without a clear map it's hard to imagine.

I actually took it upon myself to start working on an updated version, with the earlier posted link to the updated milky way galactic map, just cause yours looked so awesome ! It is difficult though as bioware seems to have merged a couple of the "arms" of the galaxy, and rotated the galactic core a bit. I'll definitely post it when I finish, but It will be a while.
And there nothing wrong with cheap software... I'm working on it with Gimp
