Description
This little critter is Anurognathus, a basal pterosaur belonging to a group with a Eurasian distribution. Its a pretty weird pterosaur, but thanks to that and some good preservation we know more about this pterosaur than any other in some respects. It most likely hunted on the wing in low light, taking insects and other small prey. It is often depicted gunning it after a lacewing, but this is over done and doesn't tell you much about the animal. Its a pretty shaggy creature, as shown by its close relative Jeholopterus and a recently found Dendrorhynchoides. Recent ideas on lice and mites suggest that grooming was an unavoidable chore for the day, most likely undertaken just before the hunt, in the early evening of the Jurassic landscape.

You think colonies of these would groom each other?
