Thank you
I can only name the price for Russia: it was ~15$, from which 8$ goes for the glass paint.

Dzheik In reply to Geoulia [2010-11-07 19:32:30 +0000 UTC]

Geoulia In reply to Dzheik [2010-11-09 09:12:14 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Geoulia In reply to Dzheik [2011-01-21 19:52:41 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to Geoulia [2011-01-26 19:50:46 +0000 UTC]

would something other than plasticine work?

Dzheik In reply to tgoodyko [2010-10-19 14:10:10 +0000 UTC]

You may also use wax or paraffin, but that's more difficult. And why not plasticine?

I bought the materials for these today, is the acryllic paint glass paint, or is that something else?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to tgoodyko [2010-10-18 19:22:03 +0000 UTC]

No, the glass paint is a special transparent paint which is used for the stained-glass imitation.

i was going to make them out of Sculpey clay, so the translucent parts would've been opaque, but now i'll try this. Im making these as a friend's birthday present,

ok, I have a few questions...
1-After I put the epoxy on the molds, it created bubbles, but wend I got the needle they wouldn't pop x( So i sterd the mix and it kinda came out alright. Any suggestions?
2-I kinda forgot to put the oil >.>; Is it that bad? : X
3- How much time does the epoxy take to dry, in general? Is there anything I can do to speed the prossesse? Should I bake it? Microwave it x) or dry it with a hair drier?
4- the cord, just I put it before or after the clay dries?
I hope you can help me
I hope I spelled it right : X

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to xnoheart16 [2010-10-18 14:47:52 +0000 UTC]

*i guess it's not of current importance now, but anyway)*
1. I didn't pop them, I like..hmm..forced them out.
The dictionary doesn't know the word "sterd", unfortunately, so i can't say anything about that)
2. It sure is . The plasticine is glued to the epoxy now.
3. It depends on it's sort. There should be an instruction. The process can be hasten by heating with a hairdryer, but NO microwave.
4. It's up to you. I've added mine after baking the clay ^_~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xnoheart16 In reply to Dzheik [2010-10-18 15:01:12 +0000 UTC]

actualy it helps Since the epoxy didn't dry yet
1- I think I spelled it wrong : X, I meant like, wend you add sugar to milk and then you put a spoon and move it in circles xD
2- doh! I'll have to re-start so it's ok
3- Yep, no microwave....not a preaty sight xD
4- Thanks I'll probably add it after like you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to xnoheart16 [2010-10-18 19:31:19 +0000 UTC]

That's strange... It usually takes 4-5 hours for it to harden. Did you put the right amount of the hardening agent?
1. Oh, "to stir" xD. Yes, it is one of the ways to get rid of the bubbles.
2. That's ok. I've made four or five attempts before the result).
3. The microwave has a strange effect on some materials. I guess, it's better not to experiment)
4. ^_~

xnoheart16 In reply to Dzheik [2010-10-18 21:01:40 +0000 UTC]

The epoxy comes in some sort of twin tube with each material on separeted tubes, wend you put it, they both come out at the same time.
1/2- thanks
3- Yeah, I tried xD the plasticine turned to some sort of sand and the epoxy formed green bubles xD Trash can with it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to xnoheart16 [2010-10-18 23:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Mine always comes in two separate bottles, that's why I've asked ^_^
>Trash can with it

Kay I'm going to be making some next week, and I think most of the questions I have except one have been answered through other people's comments. If I can't find plasticine, would polymer clay work for the molds?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzheik In reply to AkyraKanton [2010-11-22 20:53:22 +0000 UTC]

I guess it would.
That's strange... Several people has told me they couldn't find plasticine. I mean, in Russia it is sold just everywhere o.o Maybe I've translated it wrong?)
Good luck anyway)

I guess it's just not that popular in the US, but that's alright cause today I was able to find a molding clay sort of thing, as well as some color dye to mix in with the epoxy (I looked everywhere for glass paint and found none) I'm excited!

Dzheik [2010-09-29 18:55:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes: the epoxy melts at 150-210°C. I was baking at 130-140°C and everything was fine. Abut the time... All the instructions and even the clay's label says that it should be baked for half an hour. I'm always waiting for 10-15 minutes only and it's alright. Probably it's better to follow the instruction though ^_~
Thank you and good luck! I'm glad if I could help.
