It looks to be a really cool project. I think you reached a great mix of the SatAM style and the style of the first game with these Sally sprites, and the tweaks to speed /jumping and attacks sound like nice variations, too.
Hee, I love to watch her run, here. It's so crisp, with just the right amount of detail.

Thanx. It's not finished just yet, but it's getting closer to how I view Sally as a playable character. Looking at your preferences, I should maybe note I've made a 'classic-style' Amy hack as well.
Glad you like the sprites, especially since they weren't exactly a breeze to make. Making work out of such a minimal amount of pixels and colors is actually harder than sketching normally at times.
You need a Genesis/Megadrive emulator to play game ROMs with (Gens or Kega Fusion are usually the most popular choices).

Really, the thought of a Classic Amy hack makes me all bouncy. 
Yes... Sprites like these are an art form. Like you say... The limitations force you to be economic, and that means you have to choose which details are most important to convey the character.
