Knowing her by now, Satsuki wouldn't call Ryuko a rival as much as she would an asset, albeit an extremely uncooperative one at that. The moment Satsuki saw her return while wearing a Kamui she knew that Ryuko's quest for answers was genuine. Answers to a murder leads to justice, justice without a court is deemed vengeance, and vengeance is something that Satsuki can sympathize with. After nearly three years following the opening of Honno-Ji she finally found the tool for her OWN revenge. The goal was to get Ryuko to kill Nui so that Satsuki doesn't have anyone to shank her from behind while she deals with Ragyo. Ryuko gets payback for her dad while Satsuki delivers justice for her dad and sister; everyone wins but the REVOCS. It was (supposed to be) the perfect plan.
