Description
There are three known species of blue ivy, a kind of shade-loving plant growing in various locations around Montejoja. They are adapted to have structural bluish green leaves due to the limited sunlight in which they thrive. The first species, the Latya Monte BLue Ivy, can be found in the highest elevations growing in forested areas by babbling brooks. They are capable of anchoring and growing upon boulders, carpeting the rocks and trailing over the edge of small ravines. They are frost-resistant to a degree, but are more snow adapted (as they grow low to the ground and can be blanketed safely to insulate them. The second species, the Fluvasian Blue Ivy, snakes beneath the gnimblegrass, all the way up to the permanent waterway. They need more moisture to survive, and in fact can sustain being temporarily submerged during the flooding by having their stomata close up and going dormant. The leaves themselves are coated in a protective wax so as not to rot. Their roots are exposed above the waters, growing up through the gnimblegrasses and tripping up many animals. The third species, the Paraiso Blue Ivy, grows in the lush ivyris forest in dense extensive blankets, competing heavily with grass for dominance, as it grows aggressively.
