Because of low temperatures all of these crops are growing very poorly. They often take several years to grow, as they can only grow during day, when the temperatures are sufficiently high, and they are highly frost tolerant to survive the frequent night chills.

All of those Crops are dicotyledons, and therefore have two seed leaves upon gemination.

The crop on the left is Serinian Saladweed, a clover descendant. The leaves are the main edible part of the plant. They barely drain the soil of nutrients, as they have symbiotic bacteria that can fix nitrogen, so they are used as green manure occasionally.

The crop in the center is Corncone a sunflower descendant. The main edible parts of this plant are the leaves and the seeds. It drains the soil of nutrients in moderation.

The crop on the left is Serinan Rootweed a dandelion descendant. The edible root is enlarged compared to the wild form. This plant is strongly draining the soil of nutrients, because it needs to grow its root.

The Antlear People practice crop rotation. First they plant Saladweed as green manure, then they plant saladweed or corncone as food, then they plant Rootweed, and finally saladweed again to restore the depleted nutrients.

Occasionally the let the fields lay fallow, and they use several of their fields as pasture, for the domestic smeerps and the domesticated armox.
